What is needed for a 30 plant grow?

Trying to get a system together that would allow me to grow 30ish plants.
I am focused on staying legal in the Medical Cannabis industry and it usually tops out at around 70 plants legally.
I figure with 2-5 mothers of various strains, 30ish clones for the next grow, that leaves me with around 30ish plants to grow to full flower and still staying legal and keeping the cycle rolling.
What equipment do you guys think I would need?
Would four 1000W HPS be plenty for a grow of this size?
What amount of sq footage is needed to yield the most possible on 30ish plants?
More questions to follow.
Thanks.

If its a medicinal grow, you want to do scrog. This way you can have hundreds of tops from your 30 plants. You can stretch them out to a huge area, but you need about 1000watts for every 16 sq ft of space. Basically you can fit 32 clones in 8 sq ft (SoG) or you can scrog 1 plant to fit that whole space.

I do SOG in a 4 x 8 area with 2, 1000 watt lights. About 120 plants using soil. Only done this twice but produced 2 1/2 lb's.
Now I'm starting hydo. Will see where that takes me.

Yeah, but he doesn't want to do SOG because he's trying to stay under his plant limit. I agree with Dimo that a ScrOG setup would result in the highest yield per sq ft with a minimum of plants. 4 1000k lights would be great for this setup, and you could eventually boost your yields even more with supplemental CO2 since you'll be providing so much light.

I understand, was just giving a referance. Never done ScrOG myself. May have to try it one day.

these are 5 gallon scrog buckets 1.5' square on the inside if your going for multible colas...
if you had 30 of those you would be set for a while.

Yes I fully plan on utilizing the SCROG method. A mate of mine has his set up with different levels of twine making up the SCROG, really works well & gives the plants plenty of room & support.
I also would like to incorporate Co2 into the mix, but my mate said that you have to get tanks refilled almost twice per harvest & coming & going with a big Co2 tank may be an issue and look suspicious. But if at all possible I want to do Co2.
So for the lighting, I was thinking of making 3 rows of 10 plants each, 5 plants long & 2 plants wide.
Would two 1000W over each 10 plants be plenty?
Or can I get away with 4 lights total? (it would be preferred to go with 4 lights vs. 6, but if I need 6 to make a 30 plant grow successful, then it is what it is.)
Also what other medium is suggested? I DON'T want to use rockwool, I know that for sure.
My mate uses the clay pellets, but they seem labor intensive having to first clean the pellets and then throw them away after.
I'm looking for something that is organic (i.e. not rockwool) and easy to either dispose of & buy more or clean. I've been told even cleaning the rounds clay pellets for a 2nd use really isnt preferred because of nutrient build up & if you miss some roots & it starts to decay then it could mess up your grow.
So I want a medium that I can just use new of every time.
I see some videos of these dispensaries growing on some type of pre-packaged brick or log of material - what growing method is this & what exactly is the medium inside of the log? I believe one of the dispensaries was using coco inside one of these logs.
They seem disposable & easy to replenish aren't they?

...lol 5 plants long and 2 plants wide? Cmon man didnt you read what I wrote before?
You cant use thr # of plants as measurements because some plants can be 5 ft wide, and some 5in. What is your area?
I dont get it...its a medical grow but you care if a CO2 tank will look suspicious? You dont think 10 cu ft of soil (if u go w/ soil), 30 pots and giant bulbs arent suspicious? Most importantly tho, youre not doing anything illegal, si why care?

I'll happily answer this for him. It's illegal federally, even in med states.

Ok now im confused. You get a "licence" to grow a certain number of plants, but its illegal to grow them? Or is the CO2 illegal?

No. Med state have state laws in place to allow such. However Federal law prohibits it. It's a double edge sword in a way.

Yes, the last thing I want people knowing is that I am running a grow operation under their noses... I will only need to bring in lights once & additional supplies once in a while - all will be done discretely regardless if it is legal or not. Safety is a #1 concern.
The Co2 thing is no big deal at the moment, as I said I want to include it eventually.
What about the lighting & the grow medium I mentioned above?
I have as much space as needed, but I don't want 5ft wide plants, lets say 2 foot square radius for each plant to get nice & big & healthy.

so you are saying 6000watts total? 1k for 5 plants will be the way to go for sure but why not 6 under each light for symmetry? is 30 your limit? is funding a big limit? if not i would recommend that at least half if not all your bulbs are these guys HORTILUX SUPER BLUE™ for me they have proved to be worth the extra cost. i would not recommend against 5 gallon buckets but 3 gallons would do fine for a scrog with that many plants with a tun of watering.

Not to mention descrition will keep his house from being a potential break in target. Just saying.
-------------------- In order to grow good weed you need to be part carpenter, electrician, plumber, biologist, geneticist, chemist, and very willing to get dirty.
I've been working with power tools since I was 8, my dad is an electrical engineer who owned a 280 gal fish tank, and I studied biology with a specialty in genetics. Getting dirty comes naturally. I think my parents inadvertently trained me to be a weed grower.
See what you think on my first try.

Sounds like coco to me, if not rockwool. But I seen you're like me and just say no to rockwool. I'm about to harvest my first two coco plants in the next 4 to 10 days. So I can't say much more than it looks impressive at the moment. And was fairly easy to work with.

Yeah I don't want rockwool for sure.
Any more info on these coco logs/bricks? Seems like it's easy setup & cleanup.
I'm trying to find the video I seen them in, the logs were like 6-8" wide & many feet long, wrapped in some type of plastic to hold it all together & they were cutting X's in areas they were setting pots on top of & then doing hydro.
