question for you
    #588382 - 09/24/11 06:46 AM (13 years, 3 months ago)

K fellas.  If there is ever a time when I need sound advice this is it.  I have never flowered indoors.  Nor have I ever set up any equipment like this.  I might as well put on a blind fold and start designing this room. The guy at the hydro store wants 200 bucks to come out and help me set up, but my budget was pretty taxed after buying this equipment. I still have a few hundred set aside for an electrician to come out and check the wiring. (House is very old).

The Room

7 1/2 ft deep and 12' wide

Closet is 2' deep and 7' wide.  There's a shelf with about 3' of vertical room.
The plan is mothers/cuttings top shelf and vegging plants on the bottom.
Gonna veg with t5's this run.

Gear

Magnum XXXL hood 8"
8" 747 cfm vortex fan
Speedster controller to regulate fan speed
1000 watt Lumatek ballast runs 120v or 240v
2 1000 watt lumatek hps bulbs (gotta have a back up)
8"x 24" phresh filter @ 750 cfm
1 roll of panda film @ 10'x100'
6-7 gallon square pots
Tri Meter to monitor ph,ppm and water temps (bought it for when I'm ready for hydro)
16" wall mount fan

Nutrients

2- 1 gal containers sensi grow
2- 1 gal containers sensi bloom

1 qt bud candy
1 qt b-52
1 qt voodoo juice
1 qt big bud
1 qt overdrive
1 qt nirvana
40 grams bud blood

And several free samples of carbo load.

I hope to be up and running by the first or second week of october. But I will need a lot of help to make sure things get set up right.

not sure if you'll need one but a dehumidifier can save your bacon if you have excess humidity

I can't tell if theres one in the picture already as my vision is bad andpic is a bit blurry

Sorry, I'm a noob and can't offer much help, but by the sounds of it you've got the equipment to grow lots and lots of nice big buds.
I'll be watching this thread.
Good Luck with setting it up and especially with the grow

Humidifier is on the list. Glad I don't have to worry about air conditioning this time of yr. I gotta pick up some ducting as well.

Anyone think there's anything else I'm missing?

Take 100 bucks and buy yourself a light mover. that would allow the 1000 to cover your whole 7x2 closet.

Also, ventilation is key. Got to get air moving through that little space or it will overheat.

I've also noticed with that hood you have that your best light coverage can be aquired by positioning like this

Hope that picture makes sence, I can't think of how to say it in words.

A light mover would be a good idea, to aid in dispersing the light more evenly. Even better would be another 1000w light. A light mover is really only useful for spreading out the light to the edges of the garden. With a room the size of yours, you could really benefit from more wattage. It will be worth the investment in the end.

It seems like you might have bought more nutrients than you needed. I would have gone with the basic grow/flower nutes, and also picked up some Superthrive, and a flushing agent. The BudBlood should be a good flower finisher. You should look into getting calcium/magnesium, silica, and humic acid additives.

Are you going to be growing in soil, or hydro? Planning on growing full plants, or SOG/ScrOG?

the one thing i can really recommend is grabbing insulated ducting for your exhaust. alot of people dont realize what a massive difference it makes in your room. id say a good 80% of the heat in a grow room leaks out from your duct work for your lighting.

other then that everything looks good. i second the dehumidifier and additional lighting but gear is expensive and you have more then what you need right now to grow a really nice head stash.

Might pick up some cal/mag to have on hand. I almost bought some superthrive when I was at the hydro store last.

This will be a soil grow.  With 7 gallon square pots. Plants will be grown as big as possible within the 8x8 area that the light will hit. A new light will hopefully be purchased after 1 harvest. at most I'll be putting 3 lights in that room. 3 patients is all I really wanna take on with the space I have available.

Hell yeah def going with insulated ducting. The electrician is coming in a week. ( or at least as soon as my plants finish drying :gethigh:) then it's time to toss up the panda film and get things started! I can't wait :awesomenod:

Finally 2 months later my room is ready to be put together.  I drilled holes and ran the wire down two floors into my basement to the breaker box. I had an electrician come in and hook both ends of the wire up.  I've got 2 four outlet gang boxes that are wired in. Just gotta mount them to the wall after I line the room with panda film.

The room will be completely ready by Saturday evening. Pics to come!!!!

Lucky bastard! I still have to wait a week till I have enough saved up to make the $1800 order that will be my flowering room. Then another week or two for it to get here...

On top of that, I can't fuck with the wiring in the house we're in. I have to run a cord from the laundry room to the spare room so I can run the AC unit and third 1kw light... lol

Can't wait to see how yours comes out!

Nice. I'd love to see how you've put your room together!

Good luck with the order. How many lights are you gonna run anyway?

I'm gonna have 3 1kw lights with air cooled hoods in a 4'x8' tent. If its not too hot, I might add a could of bare bulb MH's to even out the spectrum...

I know, right?? Lol. I can't wait to see it either! We're ordering 2 1k lights (we already have one), a 4x8 tent, and a Flo-N-Grow system from Sentinal Controllers with 2 expansions so we'll have a 24 site hydro set-up (the total comes to $1,565 before shipping from the website I found. Shipping will probably be a lot though. Which is why I'm estimating $1800.).

I first saw this system 2 weeks ago and I think its far superior to the CAP ebb and grow system (which WERE gonna get), due to the fact that is has 4 gallon sites with 3 gallon inserts, instead of it being 2.5 gallon sites with 2 gallon inserts. I feel that will give us much better results in the long run.

So I've got a venting question...... [Re: Tank333]
    #598294 - 11/24/11 08:59 AM (13 years, 1 month ago)

I have to vent the warm air from my grow room into my pantry. The door to my grow room will be panda film with a stick on zipper.  If the door to my pantry is closed it would leave an area that is 6 1/2' x 4 1/2' and 9' tall for the hot air to vent into.

My question : will the negative pressure from my room suck the warm air being vented out.... back into my grow room from the pantry?

Here's a quick shot of what i'm talking about. The pantry has a window in it....so i guess i could vent out the window if i absolutly had to. I'm just concerned with ice forming around the window during the winter months.

pics of my new room [Re: Farmer Joe]
    #599722 - 12/04/11 06:21 PM (13 years, 29 days ago)

Here's a few pics of the room. Got some autos going in the closet. Along with a few of skunkman's haze/skunk crosses. I also planted one seed of each of these tonite....red dragon, ny purple diesel, og kush, L.A. confidential, blueberry, northern lights x big bud, blue widow, afgan haze 33, and blue hash.

I still have to mount the fan and run the ducting, but it's just about done.  Can't wait to fill the room up!
