I understand the whole thing for the most part...but I know the hole is drilled "up" to make a reservoir of sorts.
Does this ever need to be tilted and drained to change the water up? It seems like it'd get stagnant sitting in there.

I can't really answer the your question.
But I've read many journals over at Icmag, where the growers choose to put an air stone in the bottom of their buckets.
Most likely to avoid such a problem.

My plan was more of a SOG hempy with solo cups, so that kinda rules that out unfortunately
