Buy lots of weed. Have a pen or something to keep your hands busy.

Reason for this is to save money, so that won't work and I'm quit tin weed (for now) too.

Its easy. You just need to learn to hate them. Hate the smell, the taste, the feeling it gives you. Once this happens, quiting is easy. At least it was for me.
Buy a vaporizer and use it exclusivley for a bit without smoking anything (weed or tobacco). I gurantee if for a couple of weeks the only thing you put into your lungs is fresh air and cannabis vapor, smoking a cigarette after that time will feel extremley unpleasent, especially the taste. This is how I stopped smoking them. Now the thought of a cigarette makes me cringe. I smoked for 5 years and now I can happily sit in a room with people all smoking cigarettes without even a slight urge to light up. Its not even hard for me to stay a quitter.

i have a bunch of gabapentin. does it make u feel like your on benzos at all?
like would it be good as a sleep-aid u think?

i've heard mixed reports, so i never really thought about taking it, but i'm almost out of my
benzos so i need something to replace it, and i hear it's used for benzo withdrawal so idk.

Oh well, I just took 300mg, I'll report back later. I might up it to 600mg, but
I've only done 100mg before in the past, and never felt any effects. So I might
as well start off relatively low.

Sorry for derailing the subject.
OP, your best bet in quitting cigs is to just quit.
It's always easier said than done.

DO NOT GO COLD TURKEY....... I went a little nutty last time. Seriously try to cut back incrementally, I went cold turkey and it was a horrible week of being uncomfortable, awkward and pissed off.

It took my wife and I about 5 years of on and off quiting. We would quit for a few weeks to a few months and then say 'screw it let's start again just for fun'. Everytime we'd start again it would only take about a week of smoking again to come to the same conclusion, which was smoking sucks and is expensive and all the other bad things that go along with it.

No matter how long it takes if you really want to quit you will.
Good luck buddy!

Just go cold turkey man. That's really the best way to do it if you truly want to quit.

Find a hobby to occupy some of your time. I recommend starting to work out and get into shape. Every time you feel like smoking, just start doing pushups, some curls, or go for a run. You'll get that natural high and realize that nicotine is a shitty drug and that you feel better from simple exercise.

Haven't smoked cigs in 8 months now, I was quite easy for me since I have easy access to weed. I started smoking a little bit more weed, mostly joints because it would remind me cigs. I don't know for you, but I had a reason to stop smoking, I wanted more cardio, being able to run in the forest like the fucking elves... I just kept thinking bout that when I had an urge to smoke, and it would pass after some time... Anyway man, good luck I'm pretty sure anybody can do it with weed!  :sambergfive:

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

about 6 months ago i got a really bad sinus infection/strep combo that had me out for about a week. couldnt smoke one if i wanted to. by the time it cleared up i was already passed all the physical withdrawals so i just kept going with it. havent had one since.

honestly though, it was the mental shit that kept me going back to them. after so many years smoking, i didnt know how to not smoke. the trick for me was occupying my mind with something else. i just tried to not think about it. i didnt talk about it, didnt count the days. i just tried to forget i ever started.

also, avoid alcohol.
and do some exercise.

Been doing alright. I am not sure if you have read or not, but I just finished doing 15 days in county jail for the DUI. I am supposed to do 40 days on house arrest but since I dont have a house and dont really have an extra 500-600$ for the program, I am just going to ask the judge to give me Work Release and go do jail time. I am going to ask that he change the 40 days house arrest to 15-20 days in jail, but he could give me the full 40 days.

Other than that, I have just been trying to get my life put back together and school just started up on Thursday. So it's kinda a mess right now but I am working on it

How have things been going up there? Is your brother still down in Tucson looking after your grandpa?
