In case anyone is wondering, this is sarcasm. Nobody in their right mind would consider 2TB HDD and 8GB of Ram to be "exceptional."

If not, then how is a 30 year old considered a pedophile for doing the same thing?
I think y'all need to look up the definition for pedophile.

nah that's still a great computer, but to me exceptional means maxed out. My motherboard and computer case are both relatively middle of the road (like 75% of the way to "really fucking awesome") and I could max it out with 16TB and 32G of Ram. The MoBo's that are top of the line are insane.

I've played with the idea of building my own computer for a very long time. I'm pretty sure with a desktop there are pretty much no limits to what you can put together with the necessary parts, wish it was the same for laptops.
I'm fucking sick of having a laptop that can't even run certain flash games, pretty much all downloadable games are just out of the fucking question.
Can't wait to start putting together a real fucking computer, and enjoy some real PC gaming.

Your the man! Lets rock n roll, I gotta have pretty much everything ordered by early next week. I am gunna be reading everything I can until then. Only thing I have really decided on is an intel i7-2600 cpu. So many choices for everything else. I am also looking at the thermaltake armor plus case but I dont know if I need a full sized tower, cant ever see myself having 7 disk drives. I will probably be moving it around a lot though so I want something very sturdy.

I know... I am so sick of slow computers that I really wanna go overboard here in as big a way as I can manage budget wise.

Have you checked out this? http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=292&area=en
They have some SERIOUS towers for desktops.. http://www.silverstonetek.com/raven/products/index.php?model=RV03&area=en Like this one, I've found a few of these for only $150 just with a Google search. I doubt you'd need anything more serious than that, if you feel you do, there are a lot of other great options.

Yeah I would reccomend a silverstone or Lian-Li case
they are such high quality, I will never go back to a sub par case again
I would (and have) run my PC using a cardboard box as a case before buying something other than the highest quality case
and @ HB, that wasnt sarcasm, 8gb of ram is more than enough for a windows PC and the hard drive size depends on what you are going to be doing
If I were to build a PC today with unlimited funds I would be running a 300gb HDD and 4gb of high speed ram as opposed to more ram that I wont utilize that runs at slower clock speeds / timings
but yeah, I wouldnt consider that PC "exceptional" compared to what you can build, but for that price range its a damn good build that will last a good few years running anything you can throw at it

it's the word exceptional that makes it silly. Nobody needs more than 2TB and 8G of ram, but calling it exceptional is kinda silly because the capability is so much higher than that nowadays

Fuck I want to water cool but I feel like that would be entering the realm of lunacy considering my experience level. Some of the components I am looking at are already getting there. My budget is 1500, can maybe swing a little bit more on really key components. I want to have this computer for as long as possible within a reasonable price.

I can build you a sick watercooled PC for any budget, 15 - 1700 would build a badass rig
honestly I would stick with an I5, much better bang for buck compared to the I7

Is there anything you would need to do differently to leave the door open for a multi-monitor setup in the future?

Check out these previous PCs ive had, pls ignore the fact that most of em are messy as fuck, my personal PCs were always being fucked with on the daily so I never bothered making them pretty
Ill try find some of the ones I made pretty tho, such a sick hobby
This cooler is works like an air conditioner with a compressor, going up to a little tiny evaporator over the CPU, Idle CPU temp would be ~ -60c and load temperatures with a highly over volted chip would be ~ -30 or 40
This one was commissioned, one of my favorite builds ever
