I was wondering what method do you guys use for watering/feeding. I personally was under the impression that you ran a nutrient solution throughout the entire duration of the grow. I've been reading around on some other forums and some people have been saying they water, water, feed then repeat. I'm just wondering whats the best way.
I think generally when you're feeding every watering you dilute the nutrients accordingly so The water, water, feed schedule might be slightly less likely to burn if your plants are prone to that.
Every plant is different. When I run my LA strain I water every other day for the first three weeks. First week of the plant life gets a food, water, water schedule, second and third weeks get food, food, water. 4+ weeks I begin watering every day with a food, water, schedule. Keep in mind that I use two gallon buckets grow in straight coco (used to use straight perlite).
Its all about learning your plants though, maybe your particular strain likes a lot more food then most so watering with nutes each time would be good. Maybe you have a nute sensitive strain so lower and more infrequent doses of food are whats needed. I used to feed my plants in the 1000-1300 PPM range, but now I barely get above 800. Just pay attention to what your plants are saying, they'll tell you if they need more or less food. IMO it's better to give less food anyways since the easiest problem to fix is underfeeding.
In straight perlite I water with full strength (sometimes over full strength) nutrients for every watering. Keep in mind that perlite, unlike coco, has absolutely no Cation retention and exchange capacity so there really won't be storage of nutrients. With coco the waterings are necessary to flush out stored nutritions ions with H+ and OH- from within the water, but with perlite that's not a concern. Water every feeding.
