Auto jack & automatic ultraviolet
    #571880 - 07/13/11 06:08 PM (13 years, 4 months ago)

Today I took one seed each of female seed's auto jack and samsara seed's automatic ultraviolet and put them in a wet napkin, them put them near my ball python's heating mat inside a plastic baggie.

The auto jack just started showing it's taproot, put the seedling into the middle of a 1/2 litre pot.

Read that the initial growth of the taproots in autoflowers determines it's final size and is stunted when it reaches the bottom of the pot.

Nice man, your literally the only guy on the internet with a journal on Female Seeds Auto Jack, didn't they release it a couple months ago?

I know a lot of people in the past have and problems with Jack Herer auto's but yours flowered on its own?

Whats your light schedule?

I have an Auto Jack growing as well, 15 days old today, was concerned they wouldn't auto flower, but your grow is giving me hope!!!

Keep us updated sir.

Lights are around 12-12 outdoors, but apparently it's the kind of light you get, not the period, that causes flowering in photo period plants, We aren't supposed to get that kinda late until early September.

If I'm not mistaken this is also the only automatic ultraviolet journal out there as well, I've only seen 1 pic that's not from samsara.

That's looking good mawc, is it from female seeds (the breeder)?

Update:
The auto jack has been getting larger than I'd like but it's still manageable:

The Ultraviolet has been getting full of shiny little trichomes and has a delicious coffee like smell:

I just propped her up on a couple cinder blocks so she can get a tad more light.

Here's both:

EDIT: I had problems seeing the full images so I re-uploaded them, still having that problem.

We got some nasty hail yesterday that beat up quite a few fan leafs, the plants don't seem to be in shock but I'm sure it wasn't a pleasant experience for them.

Auto Jack:

Auto Ultraviolet:

Does anybody know if that brown spot on the top right of the UV is mold? I'm kinda worried about it.

It's about the same size as the auto jack's pot, about 2.2 gallons, I've heard autos can grow decently in one gallon though.

The auto jack is budding extremely well, bud sites everywhere, and they-re growing quick! The ultraviolet isn't growing as big or fast as I was expecting, my guess is a bad phenome, there is noticeable growth however.

The ultraviolet is supposed to take 86 days according to the breeder, while the jack is supposed to take from 70 to 77 days. In other words, 35 days for the UV and 26 for the jack, going to have to base myself on that as I simply can't get the hang of using the pocket microscope I got.

Look at this thread, might help out, on choosing exaclty when to harvest, some other tips, if you could cover your plants for the last 2 days before harvest, the plant will think its dying therefore releasing all the CB and THC it can before harvest, also do not water the plant a day before harvest, will make the drying process much faster, also if you can, when drying cut the plant from the roots, with the leaves still on and dryin for 3 days, this will make sure the leaves are still a little moist but the THC should be dry enough to extract some killa hash, http://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/28072-harvest-time-tutorial.html, check that out, its a forum that explain how to determine when your plants ready without telescope.

I recently bought about 30 kg of organic fertiliser at home depot for about 10 USD, only been using that on both plants. The differences you see between both of them are, as far as I know, genetic. The small amount of growth on the ultraviolet could be because of a not-so-good phenotype

A lot of Automatic ultraviolet's hairs turned red/bright orange, a few trichomes are turning amber, should only be a week or two more (I think):

Auto jack still has a bit to go, not trichomes seem to be amber or cloudy, aren't too big either but it smells like heaven!

Lower buds aren't that bad either.

I do mean the auto jack, the breeder's recommended harvest is due that time and most trichomes, from what I can see with a 30x jeweller's loupe, are getting cloudy.

that ultraviolet looks bad ass!  Just one bud growing from the ground.  I'd definitely trim that one before taking it out of the ground, just for the picture.  good luck!

Haven't weighed it yet as it's still wet and I'm not very experienced at eyeballing, though I'll post the dry weight once I start curing.

As far as the plant goes, it was about a foot and a half, but when I took it out of the pot it looked like the roots were all balled up, which means that it could have yielded a lot more with the appropriate space and nutes.

Harvested the UV this morning, seems that some of the flowers were dying while on the plant, thank goodness it's not that humid here, any ways, pics:

Awww look at the little guy!

That little guy packs one hell of a punch. Probably the strongest stuff I've ever smoked, which isn't saying much but it has great potency for an auto flower, the only downsid eis that it only yielded 6 grams, which is nothing compared to the 60 grams under "appropriate treatment" promised by the breeder. Outdoors I would have expected a half ounce with the treatment
I gave it. I haven't vapéd it yet so I can't really comment on taste, but it's very potent IMO.

The auto jack yielded about 5/8ths of an ounce, and after a second weed of curing tastes very lemony, slightly fruity, smells like some sort of heavenly lemon sṕice and is sticky as heck, and potency is also very nice.

it'd be cool to get like 100 of those and put them all in a tray under a 600w hps.  that looks pretty cool trimmed while still in the cup.   it sounds like your satisfied with the results with the only exception being weight.  thx for sharing this!
