I used to spawn to h/poo then I tried coir and I like it better. It works well and is cleaner to work with. Great job so far keep it up..

His mycelium looks like there could be a possible bacterial contam but its hard to tell from the pics, the mycelium is starting to look wet, which isn't usually a good sign inside the jars, and as the guy above me said, its deffinitely going kinda slow
Also when you spawn let the bulk sub sit for at least 14 days ( assuming you havent failed or given up, or finished yet), PE of all varieties needs more time to consolidate, if you fruit too early after spawning to bulk ( which is easy to do from excitement) you will get a terrible first flush almost every time ( mostly mutants & balls)
just a little pointer, I have experience with PE.
Also if those spores were from sporeworks I know they are clean, so the bacteria must have come from you, Ill review your procedure quick to see if anything sticks out

Greetings! I put the jars in my fridge when I went on a trip a few months ago. I decided that I liked the place so much i would move there. So that's exactly what i god damned did. AND I made sure to take the jars of mycelium with me! SOOOO i have 25 jars ready to rock and roll. And now is the motha fuckin time. The reason this took so long to colonize the rye is due to temperature i think. The mycelium looks great and there are absolutely no signs of contams in any of the jars.
SO here's the deal on the spawning....
I will be using four stack and view tubs. Each will have different combinations of additives to the spawn/casing layer. Each are numbered 1-4 and will be listed periodically throughout the rest of this grow. Today I am preparing the spawn for tub 1.
TUB 1
I am basically following this guide for this one, pretty simple. but i am making some adjustments to the process.
One brick coir placed in 1 gallon of 170 degree water to expand. I mixed in a consistent mix of 1 quart of verm and 1 quart of (free) spent coffee grinds from starbucks. I am going to let that shit sit overnight. In the morning I will pasteurize them. Then prepare spawn for tub two. Pics later....
p.s. sorry for the several month delay. I REALLY hope to make up for that with some massive fruits in a few more weeks.

yes, I sealed them all with micropore tape after I injected them.

sweeeeet....glad you got all settled in, bro. I'm looking forward to watching this grow. I hung up my Myco gloves for a while and moved onto the herb. I have a much deeper passion for the ganja! Plus, mycology was really starting to aggravate me. I was having massive contam issues. That fucking cobweb would not leave me alone. i hope your fruits are ready in time for Red Rocks! look forward to seeing you, brother! Sadly, my harvest time will be pretty much right when we return from Colorado...of course, right? oh well, at least I wont be sad to go home!

I did a spawn run just now on tub 1. It's as described above. I used 8 jars of coir/verm/coffee grinds to 4 jars of colonized rye. I beat the shit out of the rye jars to get them separated and in a couple jars it looked like i broke every single grain so I decided to discard those jars for the time being. I don't want to fuck with any contams. I'm working on pasteurizing the coir/verm/coffee for tub 2 next. That one has some added calcium carbonate. I was being stoned/retarded and used that instead of gypsum. Hopefully that doesn't fuck them up too bad. Tub 3 will have the same kind of substrate mix as tub 1.

Got an update! I spawned all the stuff. I only used a different recipe with tub two as mentioned above. I actually decided to use a simple method for all the tubs. I would have added gypsum but couldn't find my stash. So they are all 1 brick coir, 1 quart verm, 1 quart spent coffee grinds, but tub 2 has some calcium carbonate added in it. It is actually the tub that appears to be furthest along. Here's some pictures of what they look like now...
All four tubs
They were spawned in order from 1 to 4.

Don't open them up so much, don't take pictures for us if it will jeopardize the pics later , I know its hard to keep those shut and forget about them but you gotta do it

and because he's done a few grows doesnt change the fact that the advice I gave him is good, even professional growers will get contaminations if they open their tub up every day for pics

*more than a few. Im always appreciative of advice to help avoid contaminates. Still looking good thus far. Tub two may be ready for a casing layer in the next couple days too. All four tubs are still looking good with mycelium progression. they are colonizing at room temp so the growth isn't as fast as I would like.
