Indoor 600W HPS Hydro - Grand Daddy Purple - "Quick Grow"
#567000 - 06/24/11 02:19 AM (13 years, 8 months ago) |

I'm going to start this one off right! On my last grow (my first grow) I kept putting off getting my grow log started and eventually I just completely gave up. But towards the end of the grow, when things started to go wrong, I realized it was critical to have something to look back at so you can correct problems next time. So, I present to you my second grow
This grow is a bit of an experimental one, my lease is up in 2 and 1/2 months so time is an issue. Because I have such a short amount of time, I'm going to be experimenting with 12/12 from seed.
Grow Overview Strain: Grand Daddy Purple Seed/Clone: Seed
Feeding/Watering Schedule Watering 2 times a week, using nutrients once per-week.
Nutrients:

Quick Log Thursday June 23 12:30 AM - Seeds dropped into cup of water to germinate. Thursday June 23 9:30 PM - Inspected seeds, some are cracked, pushed them all to the bottom of the cub. Friday June 24 <Unknown> - Removed seeds from cup and placed them on a plate between 2 wet paper towls, to finish the germination process. Saturday June 25 11:00 AM - Inspected seeds, all but a few are cracked and the tap roots clearly visible. Saturday June 25 9:30 PM - Put seeds into initial rockwool solution. Put under 24/0 lighting. Monday June 27th - Converted grow to hydro, 4 seeds have sprouted.

Well here is my first update.
9 out of the 10 seeds have popped and are showing taproots.
Dipped my rockwool into a solution made up of 1/2 gallon of water, 1/4th tps of big bloom and a small amount of pH down.

The tray I will be using to start my plants, with the nutrients and pH management tools I will be using throughout the grow.
I've decided to put these guys into 24/0 for 2 weeks to get the most rapid growth, then at week 3, I will flip the lights to 12/12.
Once I see roots appearing at the bottom of my rockwool I will transplant my plants into 3 gallon pots where they will stay for the remainder of the grow.

New feeding schedule attached.

After doing alot of research into Hydro, I saw so many advantages over soil for faster grows like this one, so I decided to invest in a hydroponics system

Unfortunately, I fucked up on the drilling of the exit hole, so there is a small leak, but nothing to critical to take care of because the water is still reaching the top of the exit pvc pipe.
On a good note, I came home from work today to see that 4 of my seedlings have sprouted and are reaching for the light!

So some of the roots are beginning to break through the bottom of the rockwool, should I transplant to 4inch rockwool cubes now and start my ebb & flood machine or wait for a good amount of roots to form? Cause these guys seem a little too small to be flooding for 15mins 3 times a day, with nutes.

Here is a quick update.
These seedlings have grown alot faster then I expected, however, they all look a little sick and I don't know why (maybe I'm being over observant). Originally my pH was about 6.5, but then I lowered it to 6.0 a few days ago and they have definitely been effected by that in a good way. Tomorrow night I will refill the reservoir and lower the pH to around 5.5 and switch the light cycle to 12/12.
