How much should i run to lower my heart rate?
    #554837 - 05/11/11 07:53 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

My average resting heart rate is 78 sometimes a little more than that though. That is healthy and all, but i feel like it's a bit on the high side. i want to aim for 70ish or below.
I'm going to start running every day, but how much should i run? should i have a heart rate i should be looking to get at while running? i want to get maximum potential to strengthen my heart.
also anything else i can do to make it stronger/healthier would be great too.
(foods to eats, exercises, etc.)

Do you get much exercise now? It might be good to just run around the block or half a mile as a starter point to get used to how you breathe.

Do that for 2-3 days then work up to two blocks/full mile for another 2-3 day increment and so on...

...perhaps i should heed to my own advice

I haven't gotten very much exercise lately. I used to swim a lot, and have perfect breathing technique and lung complicity from it.

Working up sounds pretty good to me though, hopefully i can stick running every day.
