General advice for Hawaii growing?

Anybody have any general (or specific) growing advice or tips for growing outdoors in Hawaii?
Most online advice is written for mainland seasons and things are just a little different out here.
Thanks for any advice, glad to be a new member here!

I know magash used to live on the islands and I'm pretty sure we have another mod here who's from there as well.
My only advice to growing in HI is to not get caught

The light hours in Hawaii are very similar to the hours in Calif. The main thing to worry about in Hawaii is humidity during flowering. Dense indica strains are touchy when it comes to the fall weather in Hawaii. Brown and gray mold can destroy a crop in a matter of two days there.
I've grown plenty of buds on the big island.

Pretty much don't grow during the rainy seasons! Mold will kill your plants quicker then shit! This is true for all crops. But pretty much growing weed here or the mainland is about the same deal. Just temperatures and seasons are really the difference. We do alot of vegging indoors and then flower outdoors. Summer, right now is perfect for outdoor!

I've heard people mention a short season and a long season -- when are those seasons?
I've been told that vegging inside and flowering outside is a great way to grow out here!

By short season they just mean to grow in the winter. The plants will flower as soon as you put them outside but it can be done since a cold day there is in the 60s to 70s.
Doing exactly what you said is the way to go there in the winter. Start em inside them move them out.

Long season starts after winter solstice, when the hours start to increase till fall basically.summer solstice marks the beginning of decline in hours. This is when out door plants start to flower from the decrease.
Then the short season starts from fall till winter solstice basically. While the hours are still on the decrease.

Which initiates flowering?
the solstice, after which the days begin getting shorter.....
or the equinox, where the plant finally gets something close 12/12 light?

long season in hawaii is a myth
not really, but you have to know when to hit it, and plant it with the moon even to get a few weeks of outdoor veg growth in hawaii
i even forget when it is because it was never enough of a benefit. although i wouldve liked one season to have been prepared with some 4 ft indoor vegged ladies, stuck out about a week b4 the change, let them acclimate, and veg for a few weeks, b4 being forced to bud quickly
mold like they said, HUGE problem. youre not in the jungle tho, so you shouldnt have to worry. i had a couple strains that i was working the rain/moisture tolerance higher and higher, and some of them, like both guys said, the mold devoured
see a little speck of gray webby mold, and a couple days later entire plant taken over...on to the compost bin
J u keeping her in a pot or putting her in the ground?
