THC is affected by UV light, I've dried my buds in my veg cab many times with no effect on potency whatsoever. What's important is having a relatively cool area with some airflow. You want a long slow dry but you don't want to dry them to the point of crumbling as the curing process requires some moisture to be left in the bud.

I have one of those quick cure things. Can't use it though because the damn thing is too fucking big and I have no where to hide it heh.

nope, curing takes a decent amount of time. You can kind of think of it like a wine aging. It's a slow, gradual, process. Kind of sucks if you only harvest a small amount because you usually burn through your stash before it really starts to get good.
