First time dealing with clones.
Just wondered what you all think.
I never clip my plants, just LST.

That looks like the perfect set of plants to LST. I'm sure you'll have fun.

I probably would've started tying them down last week.
Still looking great, still keep up the good work

Just transplanted them 7 days ago.
Now I am actually debating....
Do I want to train and veg them for a week more?
Do I want to just put them in to flower now?
My ultimate goal is to have nice big plants, but I could throw those in to flower now and have a crop sooner and have the next batch nice and beefy from a longer veg.

What about flowering those monstrous moms you have and then vegging these girls out? that way you get the crop soon like you want, but huge yields like you also want.

I'm worried about hermies from bad genetics. I just clipped a few clones from each mom and wanted to test flower them in a small tent.

fair enough, but I feel there's nothing to be lost by flowering the huge ones with either outcome either they hermie and you trash them anyway, or they don't hermie and at least you got a nice yield out of the test. 8 weeks from now those clones will be so large it won't matter that you flowered your moms.
Also, what else are you doing with those 3000W worth of HPS you have? might as well start repaying that $20K as soon as possible, right?

big pot, big lights, big plants
Definatly flower the big ones, and veg the others out. Hermie genes happen. Just pinch of the hermie sacks and you'll only get a few seeds, usually on the bottom few branches only. MAybe try getting some viable genetics instead of risky boo boo.
Tieing down is for retards. You want your plants so big you have to tie the branches up from falling over with monsterous buds. If your tieing down, or growing in a shoe box, your just beating off.

Oh jesus I can't believe you just actually said that.
Light intensity decreases exponentially with distance from the bulb. Only one foot away from the bulb light is already only 25% as concentrated as it is 6" away from the bulb. Two feet away and you're talking about a measly 6.25% of light intensity! THAT IS WHY PEOPLE TIE DOWN. You don't tie down for large plants, you tie down for large BUDS. you want the maximum amount of the plant to be exposed to a maximum quantity of light, and BY FAR the best way to do it is to LST a nice even canopy so you can get the light nice and close to as much of the plant as possible.
Have you ever actually grown a plant before? I'm seriously asking this question, have you ever ONCE in your entire life grown a plant indoors? If so you would have noticed that the big nugs are at the very top of the plant and the bottom is generally sparse, underdeveloped, useless material except for hash making.
Wow Jesus Christ

Heres to clarify.
Big space, big lights, big pots = big buds

That's terrible advice. LST is done for a very specific reason. It's a technique that has been developed out of necessity. People don't do LST cause it's fun you know. Also, regarding hermie's, i would stay away from making those kinds of blanket statements. I've had hermies before, and I tried to pick the stamen as I saw them. Guess what, i ended up with a fucking crop full of seeds. Giving out that kind of advice here could have seriously detrimental effects for our members. You could have cost him 3 months of wasted time/effort. I wouldn't wish an undesired seeded crop on anyone here. You almost ensured that for this bloke.
If you want seeds that aren't worth your effort to grow, then leave the stamen on the intersexed plant. It's that simple.
HB, this one is for you!

If you hermmed that bad its your fault. Stress could be the problem... And if your working with any of Humbolt, or Canada's pissed on Genetics like most of Cal, & the Medical Community you are gonna get herm bull shit. Guess you would rather just cut down and start over?hmmm seems a bit more of a waste.
I guess it's just a preference. I like a plant to be shoulder high before I flower. Indoors Usually they finish around 6feet. Even five plants like that gives you a ton of medicine. Pounds per plant. This also gives the ability to stay legal and produce max amounts. I guess if you grow with cfl's LST may be extremly important, but with big lights, and enough space it doesnt seem like any body but god does the training. I bet if you looked at some of the larger grows in BC you would understand that. The general consensous is The Usa is a bit behind in the cultivation of pot. And if we could remove our pre concieved notions, and massive egos we could hopefully catch up.

Let's both get a 4x4 space and 1000W HPS and an identical clone. I will bet you $1,000 I can yield more, and higher quality in every single department using LST than you can by letting it fly unchecked.
I've been inside 40,000W warehouses in BC and several states. they ALL train in some way or another if they have any intention of maximizing yield per square foot or yield per watt. The only people who don't train are people who don't give a flying shit about efficiency

After sifting through the seeds in my bud for the past fucking 17 months, YES, i would rather have cut it down when i saw the first stamen. It's definitely not my fault it 'hermmed that bad'. That shit was in the genes of the seeds I got. I provided a perfect environment for those plants. they were not stressed at all in any way. But this is a thread about LST, not intersexed plants. so lets try to stick to that topic.

Well i guess by the intensity of your replies this is something you may have, or are now on the fence about.
I was too, and when i realized i wanted big plants, rather than more plants, and;) i became partial. I see you wen't the other way.
If you have a big enough space. And a large enough base, with ample light you have just made a macrocosm, of your microcosm, and in the macrocosm you dont need to worry about tieing down, unless you didn't plan approperiatly.

So here's what I have decided.
The mother's that we have duplicates of, they are going in to flower and we will be keeping a close eye on them. Hermies get killed on sight.
We will also flower some of the clones. You can watch the progress on the youtube channel. Caligrowgirl. Or watch my grow log on Growery.
And I can attest to the LST doing wonders on the plants and I highly recommend it.

The second part of that post is complete incomprehensible gibberish so I'm going to ignore it completely.
the second part is directly contradictory to your entire position here. You say "with ample light" and I'm telling you that tying down is without a doubt the ONLY way to maximize "ample light" over the most budsites in your garden.
Oh and I would also like to say that you're hilarious if you think Cali, Colorado and other medical states are "behind" Canada in growing technology
