Anybody been keeping on eye on this? The media has been sinisterly quiet about this.
Looks like they will have a new government soon. The police force has begun to side with the protesters.

Al-Jazeera has good coverage. My fear, though, is a group like the islamic brotherhood coming to power, or someone even more fundamentalist

My understanding of the Brotherhood is that they have had their fundamentalist offshoots, but have cleaned up their reputation in Egypt over the last couple of decades in an effort to become a more legitimate political influence. But I still remain a bit skeptical of them anyways. What happens next with Egypt will certainly be interesting for sure, regardless of who comes to power next.

Each team that goes to the state debate thing has to submit 10 "resolutions" (the topic of the round, it is pretty much what the government team has to support eg. the united states federal government should substantially increase public health assistance to Sub-Saharan Africa).
I really love how the Egyptian military is actually acting for the people. But I remain observant of this, I don't really want to make any conjecture about this. I mean this is the middle east we are talking about here.

Me too, it just seems a bit fishy. At first Obama was all for it, and wanted the govt. to listen to their people, then he decided what the people were doing was wrong.

Can anyone, in a nutshell, explain what is going on? I dont have a TV so I havent heard shit. And I am too lazy right now to read all the details and I still probably wouldnt find what I am looking for.
What is happening? and Why?

I'm in the same boat as you.
All I know is that the President and VP have been running thangs for like 20 some years and 99.9% of the people in the country want them to step down and they won't. I see no other options though if they keep goin nuts over there.
Maybe DD or someone else can fill us in.

Yeah, why all of a sudden is there this huge outburst and like others have said. The potential political instability could be HUGE. I do believe Egypt has a fair number of nuclear weapons, so any party is going to be playing kiss-ass with the public in order to get their hands on that bargaining tool.
Just look at N. Korea. Once you have nukes, you gain a lot of leverage.

I'm not exactly sure why it happened all of a sudden to be honest. Not sure if it's all of a sudden either. Things like this are something that builds up I would think anyway.
I think a lot of countries have nukes now to be honest. It's a matter of talkin shit now. The first country to pull the trigger could very possibly start WW3 to be honest. IMO of course.

Its been 30 years in the making, increasing food prices and poor employment has set things off. The military is in temporary control while they try to get some sort of election going.
The middle east has been unstable for centuries, how they've managed to not eradicate each other is beyond me.
I would think a more open democracy in Egypt would stabilize the region even more. Egyptians have been at war with Israel on and off since its creation, a majority of Egyptians don't wish to get themselves blown up.
