My roommate had to get a cool mist humidifier for his 2x3x6 area. He is using a 4inch inline for exhaust. Couldn't keep humidity up so had to buy that. Also using a dimmer switch for fan. They say that motor speed control switch should be used but it is working fine. Hard to say when and how long you should run your fans. To many variables to say.
Depending on light your using(heat) you can try using just exhaust fan. It will still pull fresh air in. Also maybe try a humidity dome or using perlite to increase humidity. Just some ideas

What I mean by using perlite is like when growing shrooms. Not sure if would be adequate, just a thought

What's the relative humidity of the room the tent is in?  Perhaps add a humidifier to the room.

I have a huge bucket of perlite in there. It doesn't help the humidity.

Not sure of RH in the room but it's gotta be low. We live in the desert.

We're using florescent lights on 24/7 on small plants.

Right now the fans only run about 3 times a day. We don't have a timer or anything. Usually just plug them in for 20 minutes or so. Does this sound OK?

humidity dome? Can make one with saran wrap fairly easily. I'm sure its fine only running your fan for such a short time but is your rh improving in tent by leaving it off?

Once i switched to a hps system from floros i noticed an increase in rh. I think the more heat/light evaporates water quicker.

Just a suggestion as it would only help the plants as well.

What about a swamp cooler, it will help raise humidity and help cool the grow room.  Works best for arid areas like you.
