In related Rays news. I just read today that both Johnny Damon and Manny Rameriz. Too bad they lost Carl Crawford, Carlos Pena, and a bunch of pitchers. Soriano to the Yanks. Garza to the Cubbies. All moves made in the name of salary cap.

That's my only beef with baseball, no salary cap.

What about Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez?  I like Johnny Damon, he's gettin a little old, but he can still hit.  Fuck Manny Ramirez.

Yep.

I cant believe Manny took 2 million. But I have a lot of respect for him. He said "ive made my money, I am playing because I love the game."

DUDE, YOU ARE FULL OF SHIT.  PLEASE DON'T BAN ME FROM THE SPORTS FORUM GEO

But seriously, Manny is not playing for love of the game.  He's just there to scrape up his last few million before he retires.  Fuck that motherfucker.  Somebody who plays for love of the game is somebody like Andy Pettite.  I hate the Yankees, but I do have respect for him.

I am not full of shit. I read the article with him and Johnny Damon. The article was about how they have wanted to be teammates again ever since they both left Boston.

Manny certainly could have gotten more money to play other places. The guy made 20 million last year.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=6080160

"I'm here, like I said, because I love the game, I love to compete. It doesn't matter how much money you make," the .313 career hitter said. "If you love the game, it doesn't matter. What you want is a chance to prove to people that you still can do it. So for me, it was not about the money, I could have gone someplace else."- Manny Rameriz

What's your beef with Manny? He is one of the most likable players in the league.

Eh, I don't believe him.  I just don't think any team was gonna pay him more than that.  He's nowhere near the player he used to be.  And yes, he USED to be one of the most likable players in the league.

What are you, a Red Sox fan? I am an Indians fan and I still love Manny

And of course he isnt the player he WAS, the guy is like 40. But now that he is back in the AL means he doesnt have to play defense. I think he'll have a great season. He loves proving haters wrong. And since he got Johnny Damon to come join him, he must be pretty happy right about now

If you dont think Manny could have taken more money other places then you just dont know very much about baseball, the guy is a future Hall of Famer

Manny being Manny.

And he wasnt juicing how  some other players were. Going from being tiny to bring huge. He had some growth hormone he shouldnt have had for injury recovery. But yes, he technically violated league drug policy

Manny being Manny is probably one of the most common used phrases in baseball. I didnt just pull that out of my ass. Manny has never been known as much of a defensive player

And yes, I do believe it was for recovery. The guy was already big. He is getting older and older and keeps missing more games. Hints why he is back in the AL

I know, I've heard the phrase "Manny being Manny" before.  I do watch baseball after all.  And my 4 year old cousin can play defense better than him, seriously.  I'd trade him quick as a bitch for a guy with 10-15 less homers but could play a little defense.

It's not just Manny's numbers, it's how clutch he is. He always seems to come up huge hits when his team needs them the most

eh, I don't like him.  Nothing you can say will change that.  I mean he was a good hitter, but I'd much rather have a good young player before him.
