Organizing/Tagging Music

So I'm about to start on sorting/tagging about 100GBs of music, and I was looking for a good program to use.
Anyone else sort/tag their music? What programs do you use?

I feel bad for people with unorganized music. Thankfully, mines always been pretty organized.
You gotta do it as you get it rather than try to tackle a project like that. The only thing I'm missing is album art in some spots.
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

Yeah, after I finish I'm never gonna let myself let it happen again . I quit on trying to have album art for my music a long time ago.. I wish I had the patience for that, but I just don't, I just have too much music with too much missing album art to even think about reconsidering now..

I have a bunch of individual tracks that I need to delete. Either that or download the whole album.
What exactly do you guys mean by "organize music"?

Well, for me personally, I'm gonna go through and get rid of all the music I don't need. Then I'll rename/tag everything to show Artist and Song name only and delete everything else. I haven't quite thought out the way I'm gonna organize everything, but I'm probably gonna label individual tracks in the comments a certain way.
I've been getting into mixing, and so far my organization is kind of sloppy, for my Electronic collection I want to organize songs by characteristics that I'll be able to recognize, I'll go by certain features the songs have, and might go as far as typing out certain basslines . I get way into my mixing more than usual DJs, so I'm gonna make some kind of a system, for example, tag a few different dubstep songs for having Egyptian instrumentals/vocals, and stuff like that, so I'd be able to make finding combos of songs easier on myself, and not have to really on memorizing them so much

I'll try that out, pretty much all I need is to be able to delete files within the program easily, and to be able to change tags and everything without having to right click and open properties or something, if it has that I'm good to go, the rest I can figure out.

Oh that sounds like trouble to me. I mean deleting music you "don't need". I've got all sorts of old music that i don't like. I may listen to them again some day in the future and really dig it though. I've been constantly collecting digital music since the days of napster and have never deleted a song, unless it was fucked or a duplicate. it's all pretty well organized. especially all my tool stuff. once you get it all organized navigating through it all will be a much more pleasant experience. tagging the songs like that sounds like a pandora type project. so maybe the work has already been done. do some more research i guess.

Have you posted any of your mixes here yet?

I'm actually kind of a digital music hoarder.. It's hard for me to get rid of something even if I only kind of like it, but I went through my entire collection several times, rated, re-rated, went over, and quadruple checked everything So I'm sure in what I'm deleting, and if I'm ever unsure I just leave it on the side to re-evaluate later.

Only a 5 minute clip of a dubstep mix I'm working on, my soundcard died shortly after and I only managed to get it taken care of a couple days ago. As soon as I get my external harddrive fixed I'll be back to working on it.

It's not much yet, but I have SO many things planned.. I'm striving towards trying to turn my mix sets into a fucking experience, and not just a transitioned playlist, also I'm a perfectionist so I end up editing/cutting/re-arranging pretty much every single track that I use in a mix at least in some kind of way

I can appreciate some dub, usually I'm not so crazy about it.
I felt the same way about house/electronic music a couple years ago though, and then I caught some live shows and now I fucking love it. Maybe I'll make it a point to catch some dub acts at Coachella this year.

I use winamp myself because of it's flak support. And yeah, it's something you kind of have to do as you go. I couldn't imagine having to organize my now 300 gb or so of music.

you know what i did in english class? I came to class stoned out of my mind every day, i chugged vodka in the back of class, i put dead fish in the ceiling tiles. i put a gallon of old milk and orange juice in the file cabinet before winter vacation. i brought snakes in a tied up sweater and let them loose during class. i didnt go to school to learn, i went because i had to. i didnt care, and i didn't fucking listen to that stupid bitch. and i still don't fucking care. i tore the pages out of her books and burned them, and threw away all the books in the class, two books per day.

I know this, and yet I constantly make that mistake!
I of course meant dubstep in the above post.

I've moved on from my iPod to my iPhone when it comes to music on the go, my iPod was horribly organized, but my Phone has everything for every song down to the album cover
Gotta do it as you go, or it gets too much

yeah, i was only able to add playlists on my iphone. So now i look up certain artists to listen to a particular song and I find that I don't have the entire discography on it. So i carry around a 160 gb ipod and my iphone. that way i have all of what i would want.
