What kind of music do you like?
Sorry, I don't do rap or emo.

Get the justice album cross. If you like daft punk you'll like justice, it's a free leech found on the front page under staff picks.
I dunno if they have it in lossless format, but, if you like bluegrass i'd give iron horse a listen. Can't beat a bluegrass metallica coverband

Sounds bizarre, old stuff or new stuff?
To the OP: Youtube around for Tabla Beat Science if you ain't heard of them. Middle-eastern music fused with elements of hip-hop and electronica.

but i'm looking for some other stuff too. just give me names and if possible post a song for me to hear before getting an album.
coda: i'll look into justice since i liked daft punk's alive album from last year.

Mostly old, but they do a few "newer" tracks like hero of the day and fuel. Even though older metallica is much better, the covers of the newer songs are great. IMO the first album is better then the second, but they're both worth a listen. It's really odd hearing a track like "one" sung bluegrass style for the first time, but now i've listened to it so much it's odd hearing the original
If you can't find it on what.cd, it's on isohunt.

How old-school metal are you willing to go?
Deicide Morbid Angel Napalm Death Corrosion of Conformity Obituary
Hail the grandfathers of metal
(I'd say Slayer, but that's a given)

Thanks, will check that out. For the record, I can't stand much of anything Black Album or beyond.

i'm willing to go as far as my hard drive will let me. i've seriously gotten a bunch of Gb worth of music in a couple of hours. mostly stuff i already had in compressed format.
i've gotten some hendrix stuff i didn't have, like live at monterey. upgraded my shpongle collection from 192 kbps mp3 to flac. and got some slayer downloading right now.

A lot of people don't like it, but I really dig the Paul Bosteph era Slayer (Diabolous in Musica, God Hates us All). They took a turn towards nu-metal, with the drop-tuning and whatnot, but it's still definitely Slayer.
I'm almost sad to see Lombardo come back.........almost.

Sepultura is fucking awesome!
"Altered States" is a favorite.
If the Cavallera Conspiracy involves Max Cavallera, it's worth a look. Torrent Link?

Quote:
Inflikted is the debut album from Cavalera Conspiracy, the Cavalera brothers' first record together in 12 years - since the release of Roots by Sepultura in 1996.
Max Cavalera has indicated that the music on Inflikted will be similar to Sepultura's early death/thrash-metal recordings but it will also have a heavy hardcore punk influence. In addition to Max and Igor Cavalera, Cavalera Conspiracy also features lead guitarist Marc Rizzo of Soulfly and Joe Duplantier (guitarist and vocalist of Gojira) on bass and backup vocals. Rex Brown from Pantera and Down cameos on bass on one track, and another track features a collaboration with Max, Gloria and Max's stepson Richie Cavalera (of Incite) on vocals.
Recording for the album took place in Summer 2007 at Undercity Studios in Los Angeles, with Logan Mader (ex-Soulfly and ex-Machine Head guitarist) of the Dirty Icon Production team.
should be good.
