maybe as a 4/20 present, eh?
just look at all the work I have done (of course with the help of other regulars) to make the Sports forum into a huge success at the Shroomery. It seems like we get at least a hand full of new regulars every season and their arent many people who hate ALL sports.
Sports forum has 65,000 posts... Only a couple of the General Interest forums have more posts and they have been around longer than the sports forum (majority have)
Anyways, I think a Sports forum would be great here. I would automatically assume the same role that I have at Shroomery of organizing all fantasy sports leagues and keeping the forum updated with the latest news.
Admins, Mods, Members; what say you?

The Sports forum on the Shroomery having 65,000 posts is not really relevant to what a Sports forum on the Growery might produce at this point in the site's development. Consider that the only forum that even has 65,000 posts here is the Smoke Lounge. Then consider that of the 100 most recently active threads in that forum (which spans about one week's worth of posting), I see only one that appears to be sports related. Coincidentally, created by you and having only two subsequent replies during the past day.
This very basic analysis doesn't seem to warrant the creation of your requested forum at this time, but if we see a need develop for a dedicated sports forum, it won't be difficult to add one. For now, I think it's probably in our best interests to keep our focus on the core subject matter, and any sports related threads can enjoy the camaraderie of our cozy smoke lounge.

The point of bringing up the post count is so that you can compare its' growth to other forums/ sub forums that have been made. it's a proven success
And the biggest kicker, which should be automatic, is that it gives a home for fantasy basebakk, football, and basketball. All activities I have run over at the Shroomery with GREAT success
This new forum would bring unregistered members who like sports out of the dark. Give more substance for daily conversation.
Now that ive given some great reasons to take the 30 seconds to create the forum.. Let's here some more arguments again

I met the same resistance over at the Boomery and didnt finally get a Sports forum for nearly 2 years. But once the admins gave it a chance, it is/was a huge success. So while it might not seem like something that needs to be done and ready right now. It will be a GREAT addition to this website.
I would have no problem running the contests (fantasy leagues, ect) but would introduce a cash prize (s) for winners of the March Madness poll.
Think about it, its be a huge success at the sister site. It would work well here too, probably even draw new members

Come on Geo, it's a win, win
Looks how nearly self-moderated the Sports forum is, despite its' entire attitude of competition.
Tons of people who smoke weed are into sports of all kinds and having a forum for organizational purposes would make sense

Thanks, we just need more vets and seasoned members to hop on board and hopefully Geo will have a change in thinking
The "Community" is really lacking depth and the Sports forum would be a great addition.

If Geo can get this done for us in the next several weeks that will certainly open the door for a March Madness Poll and even possibly a fantasy baseball league if we can get 10-12 people down
Co,e on Geo. ill even moderate the forum so it creates no extra work and you can make it so I can only ban people from the Sports forum, I would have no authority to the overall site
pppp-lease? We need more community forums anyways. That is one area where this young site is lacking heavy

It certainly couldnt hurt to add an extra forum, especially one that has proven success at the sister-site and a forum that engages it's members more so than just about any other forum.
Seems like a no brainer. At least give it a trial run over 4-6 months then evaluate whether or not it is worthwhile to the community
I got to say, the coolest thing about the Shroomery's Sports forum is that it thrives despite having no real active moderators. It's just a laid back joint where we all go to talk the shit about sports

edit- Maybe it could be Sports/ Great Outdoors.. Possible name is "Starters Bar and Grill" or if something more basic then "Sports Pub" "Sports Lounge"
