fuckin a man.
I just bought a temperature control device that simply turns whatever's plugged into it on when the room gets up to a certain temperature.
guess how much? cheapest online was $71.
lets be clear, all it does is turn something on based on temperature. wtf
I could have learned how to wire a 120v cooling thermostat to the fan I want to have running but that would have cost ~$30 and then there's no guarantee that I don't fuck up my new $350 fan or that it won't start a fire.
damn it at least when you have everything there's almost no further expenses.
and you can always do things on the cheap but there's risks and lower quality harvests

well I keep thinking that's it, after this $400 purchase I've got everything I need to sustain a growing operation.. but then NO I need to buy some other ridiculous priced piece of equipment. I hope this'll be the last of it.
as of now I've got:
-tent
-6" cool tube
-400w digital HPS/MH ballast
-400w HPS bulb
-440cfm inline fan
-33" carbon filter
-buckets galore
-full set of advanced nutrients
-pH meter
-PPM meter
-pH up/down
-120cfm duct booster
-150w HPS complete
-425w HO T5
-a home made bubble cloner
-cloning solution
-a bunch of seeds
-2 5 gal DWC systems
-random equipment that I had to buy along the way (12 gauge extension chords, thermometers, timers, heavy duty power splitters, drill, drill bits, sawzall, pvc, white vinyl lining)
but that's shit that I'VE GOT. so I won't really have to buy any of it again except soil, pH solution, and nutrients.
I guess I'm just annoyed because they don't even try to hide the fact that they're fucking you in the ass. they really could just make the fans have different speed settings built into them by the manufacturer, you know like every other fucking fan in the world.

Well yeah, just about any kind of DIY can get expensive if you want to do it right. But with the price of weed your actually complaining about $400? Its a capital investment man.

Really, 400 dollars is a pretty small investment in growing.
People sink thousands into grows that are still relatively small.

well this is only my second indoor grow, the first being in a 1'x1' closet which only had artificial light for the flowering stage. veg was done in the windowsill lmao. only got like 7 grams from that sucker but it was really good weed and it was just bagseed - thank god it turned out to be female lmao.
so I really don't know how much I'll pull off these 3 girls I've got now. they're a bit over 2' tall each. 2 chemdawgs and 1 bubblegum.
the bubblegum is fucking THICK. I'm hoping for about 2oz each?? really no expectations.
I'm going to smoke the whole fucking bag though, that's for sure  
there's nothing like smoking pot that you've grown or eating mushrooms that you grew.
the high is the most self-satisfying thing I've ever experienced.

I know a kid who veged in a dorm
and I grew shrooms and san pedros in a dorm
but I would never ever ever flower anything in a dorm and actually can't believe I was crazy enough to do half of the crap I did
I may be youngish and in college but doesn't mean I'm just some frat boy.
I work, rent, pay bills, do well in school, party with the best of them and fuck like pornstar.
and grow plants indoors in my apartment.

Look at it this way man. Yeah its a pain in the ass and rather costly to get started but.... After you buy all the shit you won't need to buy it again enless you break something. Hell I am still buying shit for my first grow and I am well over $1200. I will probably spend another 800 to a grand before I have every thing I want. Keep your head up man. Once you get there it will all be worth it.

Remember when buying things like hydro pumps, temperature controllers, air pumps, pretty much everything but the nutrients and the lights you can get at the pet store or hardware store for half the price.
Example a company called CAP makes pumps for hydroponic systems and for fish aquariums. There the exact same pumps except the ones for fish tanks have a fish on em but they are half the price. Guess what, my hydro pumps all have fish on em.
