Phosphorus Deficiency?
    #501822 - 11/30/10 03:13 AM (14 years, 1 day ago)

Hey growery, I think I've had this problem the entire time because the stems of the fan leaves have always turned red/purple but the rest of the stems are green, its only the fan leaf stems, and I'm gonna be a prefectionist when it comes to my grows so I wanna fix this. Also the fan leaves also get some spots on them and its only on the fan leaves, none others.

Hydro Growers:
1. Are you growing from seed or clones? Seed
2. How old are your plants? 45 days
3. How tall are your plants? LSTing but about a foot maybe 18 inches?
4. What type of hydro system are you using? Hand watering presently. Gotta wait for nicer pump then I'll have my DIY Ebb and Flow
5. What brand/type of nutrients are you using? GH Floragro & Floramicro
6. What is the Ph of your nutrient solution? 5.6-6.2
7. What is the PPM/EC of your tap water? 35ppm
8. What is the PPM/EC of your nutrient solution? 850ppm
9. What is the temperature of your nutrient solution? Room temp
10. Does your PPM/EC show a rise or fall when you do your daily PPM check? Fall
11. Does your pH show a rise or fall when you do your daily check? Rise
12. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything? No
13. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? (HPS, MH, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent "plant lights") 2x T5HO 2ft. Floros. (changing to a 250 watt HPS on wed.)
14. How close are your lights to the plants? 3-5 inches
15. What size is your grow space in square feet? 3x2x8
16. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space? Unknown
17. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space? Nope
18. How much experience do you have growing? PLenty of research, first real grow.

Also anyone got some quick fix ideas on how to get some P in there?

Are you just thinking you have a P deficiency due to the purpling on the petioles?

Well yes that and the fact that my nutrients are: Floragro 2-1-6, and Floramicro 5-0-1, and only 1 even has any P value in it. What if PH was slightly higher than it should be at like 6.3 this wouldn't cause it to lock out P would it? I usually try to keep ph between 5.5-6.3 because I only have the color dropper ph so its not as precise.

Well, the purpling on the stems can be a normal thing. That's about all I can really add here other than, I know snowstorm ultra is 0-0-3, so I would guess that gravity is probably 0-3-0. You could look into bushmasters and gravity and see if one of them are to supplement if you feel it is needed. Or change ferts/get tiger bloom to supplement with.

Although this might not even be your problem. I also think blood meal (or one of the meals maybe feathermeal) is something like 0-x-0.

I thought it might be genetic at first too, but on like maybe 3 fan leaves you can see green, its only got purple stripes and there isn't any others on the rest of the plant. I've only seen purple stemmed plants have purple on the main stem as well as fan leaves etc.

I'll look into one of those nutrients, what can I expect for a price?
