Don't bother using the trim for any kind of cooking unless it is all very good, frosty trim.
I've never heard any good reviews or gotten to try any decent marihuana hard candy.
Make a screen to sieve kief, fit two or three different screens over a mirror. Cheap 
...or buy some 5-gallon ice-hash bags. Expensive, but a good investment.
If you're planning on having that much good trim in the future than invest in some bags.

well i got it today and its all just leaf my buddy is manacuring later on and givin me that too.
the leafs arent frosty but theres alot of it. is it worth messing with or should i toss it and wait for the left overs from the manacured buds?

if your in need run it.. i would use the frosty stuff in the bags.. u could cook up some butter.. let the butter and crock pot do the work.do what ya want .. u may be happy or disapointed wither way.

trust me, take 1oz of dried leaves, 2 1/4 sticks of butter, large pot, alot of water, boil, simmer 3 hours, sift out all leaves, take more hot water, try to get as much butter out of trim as possible, let butter/water mixture sit in fridge over night, butter floats to top, peel off, this butter will equal 2 sticks, makes 1 batch of chocolate chip cookies or approx. 30 cookies, 1 cookie fucks you up, takes at least an hour to kick in though.
