Currently my lights are on from 3 am to 3 pm, so that they'd be off during the afternoon, the hottest part of the day. However, that's a pretty inconvenient schedule, and since it's going to be cool for a while, I'd like to change it.
I'm going to wait until I've harvested most of my plants in a month or so, but there's one sativa girl who's going to take another month or two, and I'll have other plants in there ASAP, so the flower room will never be empty. I know that it's most important that there is always 12 hours of darkness, so I'm wondering what's the best way to do it: gradually or quickly, like a band-aid. Anyone done this before?
Extend the dark period till the new time. So if the lights go off at 3:00 but you want them on at say 9:00 just leave the lights off the extra 6 hours.

im a fan of 9 pm till 9 am it avoids all the daytime heat . But as magash said. Ive seen it written several times just leave lights off till your new time and set your timer.
