Ender's Game is a classic Sci-fi style book. (if you like it check out the whole series). Here
Also, I've never read the Dune Books, but I've only ever heard good things about them from my friends.
The rest are all fantasy, although the Pern series is technically in the distant future.
I also enjoy books by R.A. Salvatore and Ed Greenwood, however stay away from them both if you don't like Mary Sue characters. Greenwood is worse with it, Salvatore has some amazing series' though (he wrote some star wars stuff too, but I'm talking about the forgotten realms series [I've heard the star wars books he wrote are good too, but still has Mary Sue issues]).
My recommendations for the two are
Salvatore: The Cleric Quintet is an amazing series, and if you enjoy it read more of his forgotten realms books. I have the entire Quintet all in one book, you can get the same for all his other series (stay away from the series where he just collaborated with a new author in every book, it was horrible). After that I would say The Legacy of the Drow series specifically.
The Cleric Quintet Legacy of the Drow
Greenwood: I would say start with Elminster: The Making of a Mage, and follow the Elminster series of books. A new one is being made, or is being released soon.
The Elminster Series
Depending on how you like it the books about Pern are pretty good, although I read them in middle school so I really don't know how good a read they are for an adult.
Dragonriders of Pern
Also not to try to turn you away from the growery (because we're better than the shroomery), but the shroomery has a literature forum I think. If you don't get enough suggestions look there, I don't know how many trolls are in that forum but it's worth a try.

I've only read Fahrenheit 451, and I wanted to kill myself through every sentence.
Such a stupid book.

Ender's Game was a good book too, as was any of the Forgotten Realms books. The Cleric Quintet was a pretty good story.
most of that forgotten realms stuff, if not all, epitomizes what is general wrong with the fantasy genre: one gay cliche after another
Whatever, in my opinion they are good.

Not much of a fan of the amber books, but this looks cool
1. I wasn't aware "cheese-dick" was an ailment that a piece of fiction could have. I already stated there are a lot of mary sue characters, whether you care about it or not is his opinion. Now stop trolling and keep this thread on track. This thread is about suggesting books, not warning against them.
