Just got the new one and it's pretty sweet. A little different but overall good.

Ive played every single one, including the spin offs. Probably my favorite game series of all time.

I really like Alpha Centauri but never really picked up Civilization

I think the games are difficult as hell, but highly addictive 
I would need to upgrade to play civ 5 though
