So, I plan to quit smoking(cigarettes).
    #475335 - 09/10/10 08:57 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

So this is my plan, on Sunday the 12th, right before I go to sleep I shall smoke my very last cigarette. I then plan to go at least 14 days without smoking.

Cigarettes supposedly lose the physical withdrawal after 2 weeks of not smoking, I'm going to attempt to go that long without smoking....will be hell for 2 weeks. Want to see how I feel after 2 weeks of not smoking, not only to prove or disprove the fact, but to see if I can make it that long.

I'm doing this for two reasons, first is cash, second is I forget how it is to be "healthy", smoking has made me a worse person.

    My method....Cold turkey.

The only method guaranteed to work...everything else is just bull crap. Smoking less or using a patch doesn't work for most people, going cold turkey works by making the withdrawal shorter, you experience a great deal of anguish yet it is over the quickest.
People smoking "less" just put the body in a chronic state of drug-withdrawal....mmm, cold turkey.:homerdrool:

I will update from time to time to let you all know my progress... I will either get to two weeks and feel fine, or I'll be craving it just as bad as ever.
After two weeks everything else is just mental addiction and is much easier to resist that an actual physical addiction.
...But that doesn't mean I'm going to enjoy this, one bit.

                                                  :lophcrankey:

It hasn't been 10 years but it has been long enough that I don't remember when I started.
The worst part about it is I smoke non-filtered cigs...so my body is use to large amounts of nicotine, resisting smoking will be twice as hard as a normal smoker.

A lot of these facts I simply got from this. Cold Turkey.

Seems very well educated...might have to keep reading it when my cravings start pounding in.

lol stopping for 2 weeks won't help you remember what it's like to be healthy. That happens after about 6 months of zero smoking.

Just stop smoking all together. You'll have more cash, you'll smell better, your teeth will look better and your day to day won't revolve around when and where you can have a cig.

Start running or cycling and enjoy life.

The best way to quit smoking is to equate it to something you already hate.

Such are poor lung capacity and cancer.

I've quit smoking a couple times using ecigs. Went back to normal cigs because my first ecig stopped working. Then bought a titan ecig a couple months ago.

The ecig technology has advanced/improved a lot over the past year and a half or so, the new models are so much better than the old and give persistant big hits.

Would defiantly recommend a titan model ecig if you fail. It is so easy to quit smoking with them.

They do not leak into your mouth like an older model did and they give wayyyy bigger vapor hits than the older models, and a lot more persistently.

Once you are smoking the ecig, I found it pretty easy to even quit the ecig once you have fully adapted.

I just bought 4 bottles of 30ml/36 mg for 15 dollars each which is half price special tw has right now. They also sell the medical grade pg which is really cheap, you take the 36mg and use 50/50 pg/nicotine liquid and make a 18mg (cig strength) liquid for half the price. I just spent 90 dollars on liquid since it was on sale and that should last me a good 6 months, or longer, and I smoke it a lot.

The flavor I got I found interesting that they make it, it is the lotus flavor. I found that to be very interesting and all my bottles are that flavor. It is kinda odd but it's not bad. Yes, lotus as in blue lotus ^.^

You're just a major asshole...not happy with any of your posts.

    The rest of you:
I really hope I can do this...and no, I know 2 weeks won't make me healthy again, but after 2 weeks the physical addiction dies, and from then on it is just mental bull crap.
Tomorrow is the day...my last day of smoking.

Main problem is I do little on a daily basis...smoking is great for killing time/boredom, so this will be almost impossible.

Can't wait till my lung capacity returns.

Maybe you could find something productive to do with your time that you enjoy?
Anyway hope it works out.

Like my lungs just love the stuff.

You can use an electronic cig with just the pg without the nicotine, and that is really, really cheap. You can select a bunch of flavors from the site too.

http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.com/

Since you can control the amount of nicotine in the liquid with the pg, you could also ween yourself off nicotine with them.

Those things are really inefficient, and you're still going to be addicted to nicotine.  Better to go cold turkey than to ween yourself off with cigs imo.
