alcohol on the heart

as some of you may know i am taking a break from marijuana due to how it is effecting my heart. and i am also afraid i may have some sort of heart problem. even though doctors havent found anything. I can exercise without having any problems. and after 1 or 2 beers im good. but what about a couple shots of vodka, would that have any effect on my heart at all? im getting tired of being sober, and will be getting some vodka this weekend.

Couldn't say for sure if alcohol does anything to your heart, but I would guess, maybe

iregular heart beats at times, and these chest feelings i get. ive had 2 ekgs, and holter monitors last year, and and ekg and monitor a couple weeks ago. im normal im guessing that if its not heart problems that its just my body or something.

i dunno man, if the docs say it's right, just roll with it i guess. maybe you're just worrying too much. ask them about drinking liquor if you're worried about it that much.

Are you every hesitant to smoking weed? like you might not be afraid of it, but are you ever nervous before you smoke? I was pretty nervous the first 2-3times and I could have sworn my heat was gonna explode out of my chest, but then I got really high and just chilled

actually yes the last time i smoked i was a bit hesitant, and my heart was beating very, hard, and fast and i had a pressure in the center of my chest, with a tingling feeling for about 30 min. then i got high and felt fine. and then one other time i was not nervous and stood up and my heart was beating fast and got that tingling, but im sure that was anxiety. ive gotten high many times with no problems before these 2 happend though

Yea sounds like anxiety man, don't get me wrong I'm not a doctor, but it sounds to me like you're just not 100% comfortable with the whole process, which is fine, it took me ages to really get used to smoking weed, I was pretty straight edge before I met my current group of friends

red wine is supposed to be good for the heart but I'm unsure if it's the wine or the red that is beneficial

It's the "red" wine in particular. It's got the resveratrol. Healthy for up to two glasses a day. More than that the alcohol makes it unhealthy.
Istoner: You sound absolutely classic for anxiety imo. I've had an anxiety/panic disorder since my early twenties. Pretty much everyone I've ever known to have the condition swore it was something with their heart before coming to terms with it. Myself included.
Quitting alcohol when I thought it might have been part of the problem always made it worse. That's not to say you can't quit. You just have to do it certain ways if you want to quit. I chose not to. I like my couple of glasses of red wine every night before sleep.
I'd rather have bourbon, scotch or tequila but I've finally learned that they only do me wrong. I'll still drink a little liquor once in a while for the pleasure but a couple of glasses of red wine is my normal nightly thing.

I'd recommend getting a cardiac stress test and echo-cardiogram from ur heart doctor. Especially the stress test if the holter and ekg's are showing up negative. It seems like the problem is arising when you are active and/ or anxious. Ive gone through the process of not knowing what the fast heart rate, dizziness, anxiety was cause from. I would go to the er at 2am with my heart pounding at 180+. By the time I got there and settled in my heart would be back down to 120-150. I finally got the feeling while at the er when they had the ekg goin and my heart was racing at 205. I thought I was going to die from the way the doctors were rushing around me and my vision was blurry and tunneled. I kept looking up at the monitor and seeing the digits of my heart rate increase and increase while I tried to calm down with no hope. They finally gave me some sort of beta blocker intravenously and it came back down slowly. After all that they sent out the records to a electrophysiologist. He found that I had SVT, Supraventricular tachycardia.
