Ha, I saw Massive Attack at Coachella in 2006. I was right up against the stage, they played the same stage right before tool. I liked what I heard. Then i went home and listened to more and wasn't as impressed as i was in the moment listening to them.

Well dude when Heligoland came out I listened to the album in its entirety and absolutely hated it but I gave it a second shot and now I can't get enough of it. I just listen to that song Girl I Love and Paradise Circus over and over. It kinda reminds me of Portishead's Third album. I didn't much like it at first but after a few listens I really really warmed up to it.
But shouldn't you have posted this in tune town?

When Lateralus came out they did a tour with Tricky and I felt the same way about his music. Rocked my ass in concert so I started listening to his albums and they just weren't as loud and fast paced as they were in concert.

oh shit! You saw tool when tricky opened for them? Those were the best shows that any human eye had ever seen. I didn't get to see it but I did see them a few months before when Tomahawk opened for them, this was in 2002. You are talking about late 2002, right? There's a youtube video of Tricky putting lyrics into Reflection. That shit was awesome.

Well if memory serves correctly I think that tour was to promote Lateralus and it was late in the year around October. I remember buying a tour shirt for an obscene price. I was still in high school then and my mother did my laundry and dried it and it didn't fit me anymore so I gave it to a girlfriend a few years back who it probably fit a lot better. Anyway I graduated in 2001 before the spring semester so it must have been October 2001. But I stayed till the very very end of the concert and Tricky didn't come out with the band. He finished his set and we didn't see him again.

bummer man. Yeah, you are right, it was 2001. I found that video...
The late 2002 shows were epic though. It really makes me smile to hear that version of that song. rap laid over reflection.
To add something relavent here's a massive attack article. Looks like new album out next year followed by a tour.
