I feel that this is our best chance to start the ball rolling. It'd suck if we miss out by a couple hundred votes so I'm hoping Cali passes this bill now! For the sake of Cannabis and the world.

I live in Cali but cant vote here because I'm not a resident yet, still registered in my home state. I think it might pass, it's very liberal here. I can already buy weed here legally from one of the dozens of marijuana stores in my area .......so I'm not really worried about it becoming more legal to be honest. I bought hash on venice beach from a store then smoked a joint in broad daylight for the first time, it took under 5 mins and that's how it is around here. I do want full legalization or something closer though, just so you can grow weed in the yard finally without any legal worries.

I am not really sure how I feel about full legalization.
I'd really hate to see it turn out like cigarettes and end up being processed to death with carcinogens, especially given all it's positive medicinal qualities.
I am a 215 patient with legitimate medical issues, so I really don't care either way.

People will be able to grow their own marijuana. IMO it's doubtful it will ever become like it is with tobacco. Different culture entirely, I envision it to be much the same way medical marijuana works, only anyone can buy it.

you know what i did in english class? Yeah that would make the most sense. Either way you can smoke all the weed you want in California already, becoming a medical marijuana patient is a 20 min process, you dont need any illness just cash.

Honestly, I hope you're right. However, as soon as corporate America (the tobacco companies specifically) see all the $$$$$ they can make selling pre packaged joints and shit to Californians, you don't think for a second they won't capitalize?
It's not about culture in the big picture, it's about money. If there is money to be made, corporate America will handle business.

Supply and demand. I don't really know where people get the idea that tobacco companies would take over the cannabis industry. Would you buy your weed from Marlboro? Would you buy your weed knowing it was treated? Frankly I don't know anyone who would buy pre-packaged weed in joint form. Just because you can smoke it in joint form doesn't mean that's where the money will be made. If you have the choice between buying shitty weed or homegrown I think it's obvious which you would rather purchase, the cost difference after legalization would be marginal for them to make seedless, quality bud. And certainly the demand will grow lower for shitty weed. They can make bud with lower THC without sacrificing taste or lack of seed content.

People dont want bad weed in California, if the tobacco companies can grow great hydro or organic outdoor weed I'll buy it..... which I'm sure they can with all their money and 2010 farming technology. Maybe they could stop producing tobacco and save a few million lives every year. All they have to do is not add any poisonous chemicals and even mediocre marijuana would fly off the shelves. A carton of joints for about the same price as tobacco would be nice. I'm sick of these black market prices for weed.
