ok so i have 2 plants and the one that i started to flower a week after the other 1 is getting full of trichomes on the top. they are looking like a milky white most of them and i was wondering dosent that mean that the plant is almost done flowering is this true? the hairs are still white too. and if so could i take 1 as a taster bud? id sayit has been flowering for a month and a week. a month for the 1 with all the trichomes.

also do the hairs start to turn color from the top to the bottom or is it a whole hair turning process. cous one of my buds are 1/4 of the way turned on the top part of the bud.

I am no expert nor have I ever completed a successful grow but to my understanding its acceptable to harvest when half the trichs are milky white, and half of them are amber colored.

are you looking at the trichs through a microscope or are you just looking at them with your bare eye?

If the hairs on the top of your plant are turning color it's possible the tops are too hot. Make sure that the canopy is max 85 degrees. The canopy is where the top of the plants are in case you didn't know.

its just on the one bud and it does not look like burn. its a 26 wat cfl, 1 over each top with a 42 wat over 2 other buds and the other 2 tops have a 42+ 2/26 witch are not showing signs of burning. and i have a 15x mag glass. both plants are from the same bag but the 1 in the 16oz cup is like waahh, vs the 1 i have in a 1.5gal.

Sounds like the plants are finishing prematurely due to stress caused by lack of light and/or the heat stress I mentioned before. What is the temp under the lights at the top of the plants?

Curently have a grow journal were I'm budding at 90f at canopy. Not having any problems at all with heat. Magash has even talked about this.

yea temps are around 80-85 due to the hot summer even in my basement. i have even been opening up my grow box during light hours to keep temps down. the tops of the bud are 3 inched from the cfl's and the total wattage is 186 wats equivalent to 700 wats so is that still not enough light?

187w of CFL light is only equivalent to 700w of incandescent light. When compared with HID lighting even a 150w High Pressure Sodium or HPS light will produce more lumens than your current 187 watt CFL setup.
Your plants would certainly benefit from more abundant light.
Unless more of your plants start showing browning hairs I wouldn't worry too much.

yawn. idk its a first grow for me so if i make it to the end with a lil to smoke ill be good if it gets me a nice buzz at least. yea i was looking into a 150w, 100w, and even a 70w hid security light its just all i needed was a power strip and various other stupid stuff to get this going. kinda sucks im strapped for cash till i get out of school or a new job that i can actually do properly. and i have seen cfl grows with less light then i have and there plant was still nice. but back to topic i just grabbed my coffee and went downstairs to check up on em and yea it is still changing and another top on the plant is changing a little more too. they look like nice fat 1 1/2 inch buds and they dont look fluffy eater lol. today marks the 1 month and 1 week into flowering. now that i am using cfl's could i only cut the top buds off when they are done and let the under buds finish out?
EDIT: the one plant i have has a nice 1 inch bud witch i did not top that plant and it is thriving on the outskirts of my 1 plant with just 1 26w light. i have confirmed that i have 1 sativa and 1 indaca plant. the indaca plant is the one i did not top.
