Just a straight forward question, Once the trichomes start turning from cloudy to amber, approximately how long until they are a 50%-50% split milky:amber ??

Big question. Depends on the flowering time.

Yeah, just keep your eyes on the trichs. It'll happen, though if you've got a sativa I think it'll be ages before they turn amber.
With my grow, the trichs on my indica plant turned amber I think in about 1-2 weeks after everything was nearly cloudy.
The sativa I had went a full extra month in flowering with cloudy trichs the whole time. Not a single amber trich anywhere!
That being said, I know I screwed up somewhere a long the way with the sativa and I think it delayed the flowering.

Some strains have the tendency not to have amber trichomes a lot of sativas can take forever to get amber trichomes. I notice my purps gets amber trichomes very early as about 15-20% seem to mature quicker so you end up with 10-15% amber when the majority are still clear and then sometime after that you get a good amount of cloudy trichomes. Indicas will tend to ripen very quickly a couple weeks all the trichomes can go from clear to cloudy, so this is very much strain dependent.

alright fantastic news, thanks mate i got some fat indicas that i'm worried about getting moldy outdoors so i thinking i will harvest one of them tommorow, when the trichs are around 15% amber and the rest milky. thinking it will be a nice cerebral with a subtle body high what you reckon ??

Depends on the indica. I always harvest my indicas around 25% amber after coming to realize you don't get much head high from them and you ruin the body high if you don't have a decent amount of amber. I never find them to be cerebral. I've never really smoked a true indica and found it to be cerebral to be honest. Functionally stoned maybe, but no soaring sativa high.
A true indica is never really meant to be cerebral. I usually look for hybrids for a good mixture of body and head high like Cheese/Skunk, White Widow, Haze hybrids. There's a lot of sativa/indica hybrids that have nice sativa like highs but grow with a nice indica structure.

yeah this is a hybrid but leaning on the indeica side, i think its probably atleast 25-35% sativa

i plucked a few nugs a few days ago off one of my indicas for a tester and smoked it tonight after a breif dry out and 3 cones was enough to get me very high up till now but im gonna go have a few more to set me before bed. very potent stuff, very pleased with the outcome to say the least. i'll get some good photos up once i have a nice sunny day
