I was actually looking at this a few days ago and thinking the same exact thing, not sure if it would work, though I see no reason it wouldn't

Why you would want to grow upside down other than just to have something that looks cool?

Least of all the branches would be able to hold more bud and not be at risk of bending/breaking.

I just don't see this being beneficial to weed growers but hell prove me wrong.

The problem with this is that the weed will want to grow in the direction of the light.  So you will have to have the light source situated underneath the plant.  Doesn't seem like it would work out all that well.  For one if the bulb is underneath the plant all the heat is going up right at said plant, that couldn't be beneficial.    Second your going to have to hang up all the pots and mount them on the ceiling, that would be a pain in the  ass.

My bio prof said that she used one of these to grow tomatoes, and the whole plant just broke off at the bottom of the stem and fell on the ground.

I think that outdoors cannabis would just u-turn and grow up towards the sun.

Indoors you would have to be careful not to let water fall onto your bulb or it would explode.

I can see the vine hanging down. A stick doesn't bend w/o training.

I've seen someone do this before and it didn't work well.  It did what SmOakland said and u-turned towards the light.  I think the guy got like an ounce or two max off of his plant outdoors and it wasn't really a late start, I just think the roots are meant to grow DOWN...

Yeah I would think that roots would sort of follow the flow of water through soil in their growth.  They would be unable to do this if they were upside down.

My grow buddy is trying it this season. The strain is northern lights × white widow and it def doesn't like being in the topsy turvey. Growth has really stunted...it did fully turn around, but has very little branching. I doubt she'll produce more than a quarter oz. It is kinda cool to look at though.

Exactly.  I tried it with tomatoes and the soil never seemed to dry out, even in the hot August sun...

I'll stick to the natural method

Man I did some radical training on a couple plants, but not turning the plant upside down; lol. I think it is pretty beneficial to get the plant to grow more sideways/ bush then straight up like they want to go. Lot of work though to tie each darn plant down.

Ok the pros and cons

Pros:
Cool do look at

If ya had a big enough space plants could be grown on the roof and the floor with a light layer in the middle. (don't start getting ideas retards it sounds swell but room for all kinds of mistakes that can cost ya big)

Cons:
Its a weed plant its gonna grow toward the light so that would mean lights on the floor and all kinds of room for water fuckups.

Roots have to grow from the moisture to the dryness which isn't gonna happen.

Weed plants like a soil with a lot of drainage and if they do drain the plants (I'm pretty sure) don't want the drainage pouring over them.

I've used it for tomatoes, and it worked great.. well, asgood as on the ground lol. The only benefit was no fruit on rotting on the ground. Can't say as I would waste quality seed on the experiment, though.. maybe some out of a bag of middies.
