i have limewire, and am getting tired of not being able to get movies. and am also tired of not getting all teh songs i want.
ive heard alot of utorrent and other torrents but not sure how to do all of that, anybody wanna help out?

for music/apps whatever go for p2p, rapidshare,megaupload and stuff.

I didn't know people still used that. Just download uTorrent, then head on over to thepiratebay.org. Make sure to read the comments left for that file to verify that it is working and doesn't contain malware.

deamonoid is a good torrent site, they have good comments section, and remember to up as much as you down. piratebay is good too

EASY:
From what I understand all torrents do is direct your torrent program to download all the little pieces of whatever it is you want to download from all different peoples computers that also have that torrent file in little pieces from those people.
Seeders = people who have teh file fully downloaded and are willingly uploading it to others.
Peers = other people downloading the same program who have pieces you don't that let you get them from them
So all you have to do is:
1.) Download uTorrent (program that assembles all teh little pieces into the file you want).
2.) Go to a website like www.torrentz.com, or www.thepiratebay.org and type in what you want.
-> Note: You want the torrent with teh most seeders and always check the comments on the hosting website to make sure it's really what you want.
3.) Now you've downloaded your torrent you might have to open it with your utorrent but it usually does it for you (depends on your browser).
You can do little tricks in utorrent to make it download faster like right click the active torrent and click bandwidth -> high and also on the bottom go into files and right click your file and put it on high priority.
Note: Once done downloading make sure to right click your file and click stop so that you won't be 'seeding' or uploading it to others online forever.
It's pretty much as simple as that.

i would also recommend peer gaurdian2 to help protect you from the companies that do not like torrents sites or users. movie, music companies just to name a few

pirate bay and vuze is what I use, other sites for torrents too. I would recommend them for music as well though usually you end up downloading full albums.

I like finding whole discographies and loading them on CD's in MP3 form.
I have a CD with every tool album on it.
Great for long card rides.

Bareshare works well for leaching songs.
I just download their shit and convert the tracks to MP3 format.

Yeah limewire is very known for having tons of extras with their stuff. Mostly viruses and adware.

Peer Guardian 2 is no longer maintained and is fairly buggy. The updated and actively maintained version is called Peer Block. Nothing is inherently wrong with using your router to block unwanted IP's, but wouldn't that have to be manually implemented/updated? If so, I just wouldn't ever get around to maintaining the list in any sort of timely or comprehensive manner.
PeerBlock is currently blocking 775,703,725 IP's automatically, with an updated list every morning. With a user interface that lists in real time the specific IP's that are being blocked from their attempt to connect to my machine, while also allowing me to temporarily (on a timer) or permanently disable any specific IP block or add additional IP's to block, as well as toggle HTTP blocking for ease of web browsing; PeerBlock seems way more convenient and user friendly.

Ahhh! This program adds suspected IP's automatically.
I get it now.
I thought it was a manual IP job like tinkering with Windows Firewall.
Does it let you know if an attempt was made to connect to a bad IP?

You can't get a virus from a movie if it's in standard format (.mpg, .avi, etc.)
But watch out for self-playing or self-extracting .EXE files.

To elaborate on my previous note about choosing the torrent with the most seeders; these are often the most secure files, especially when investigated with the reviews left by downloaders comments.

All I can think of at the moment. Pretty fucked up.
