i know you cant smoke the greens if in any military job regardless of a medical card. so a friend wants to join the marines and has a med card. can he join if he had the card but quits a while in advance and tests clean? he knows they will know about the card since they do a medical history check. he has been training to do recon which is special operation forces for a few years. will his past card affect him in any of his future marine corps career possibilities?

With the need for more and more men and women in the armed forces he can probably get in even with it, but it will probably limit his choices in which jobs will be available to him. Also the marines are very big with what is called an open mos(jobs) which means after you complete basic you will be given a few choices to choose from. Get the job in writing from the meps center and you usually do not go straight in to fields like recon without doing basic 11 bravo(infantry) training first. Remember recruiters will lie to you just to get you to sign because they have quotes to meet for enlistee. The men in my family have served and we have covered most of the branches(coast guard is the only one I dont think we have been in)I did 4 years in the army, served in the first gulf war. I also just want to say just because you love video games and think they are fun and cool, when you are shooting at real people and being shot at it is not as fun, and can mess you up mentally and physically for life. I wish him all the luck and keep safe

This is pretty much how I feel now. There is a famous quote but can not remember who said it but it goes something like this. If you want to see MAN at his worse just go to war. I support our troops 110% but not the government that would put them in harms way for no good reason. This is the one thing that greatly disappoints me with our president, he said he would bring us home.

Now we have a trillion dollars in mineral deposits beneath or feet in Afghanistan, and no Bin Laden.
and we built the world's largest embassy in Iraq
It would seem we have plans to stay for the time being

I was not aware of the embassy part ty for the info on that, and I would have to agree if we have done that then we are staying. and isn`t funny all that oil and we still paying out the nose for it(sad). We need to start putting people in office that are not supported by these companies that do not want new energy and do not care about anyone except their stock holders. The wonder plant was first outlawed because a new up coming company wanted to make there synthetic rope over the better and more natural hemp ropes. The only people making a profit in this war are the companies that rebuild places that war destroy. look at how many politicians are stock holders in these companies and our former vice president was the ceo of the biggest one. imo

thank you for the link and I recommend that everyone read it, it pretty much says it, we in for the long haul, now I am even sadder about the country I served and have to live with the nightmares. Does anyone else see that we are already an occupying country, the things we fought our independence from. what we have criticize other countries for, we have become. Russia is letting some of theirs go and we are taking more and more under us. I understand wanting to help other people but we have people here that need our help. We have tons of people homeless, jobless, and starving in our own streets. think what we could do with the money being spent there in one month or even one day. sorry to rant.

Unfortunately we are entering into a kind of new imperialistic generation, where we use our influence, money, and military to use other poorer countries for our needs without having to actually conquer the country itself.
Our government has exploited more people than any other country they point their finger at.

On topic,
It is going to depend on the reason why he got issued a MMJ Card. If he got it for some kind of mental reasons (panic attacks, anxiety, ect) then he is not going to be able to enlist. If he got it for chronic pain, he is going to have to quit using, test clean, then get physical fitness waivers
So it all comes down to what the doctor listed as justification.

He is right, and sorry to take the post to a different place instead of the main question. I will try better on not doing that once again sorry

Ok, depends on how he got the card. Now in most cases people go to their regular doctor and most of those won't give out card recommendations so you have to go to one that actually advertises that he does cards. They don't register the info with anybody that is why the clubs has to call the doctor and not some state registry or crap like that. So if your friend keeps his mouth shut on which doctor gave him the card he should be fine.

My father was a Vietnam Vet, he even got a purple heart over there, but anyways he would keep a huge knife under his pillow and he would wake up screaming bloody murder and attack my mom, thank God he never stabbed her but he did put her in a few choke holds.
Check out some of Ulysses S. Grants quotes on war, they are interesting.
