hello i am about to attempt my first grow and i got this light for free and i was wondering if it would be good for growing at all? during veg or flowering/both or nothing lol...im about 2 run into some money in about a month or so i am geting a good setup but was wondering if this would be good for somthing now since it was free or if i should wait? it says sylvania 250w metalarc then it says m58/e and below that it says m250/u if this means anything?? lol thanks alot guys!!!!

That is a metal halide bulb. It is perfect for the veg phase of growing, and you could also use it to flower. Get growing  .

nice! im new so i didnt know metalarc was a metal halide bulb lol thats awsome! i got some 3 inch seedlings under 2 cfls for veg but you think i should replace them with this??? my buddy said it might burn little seedlings is this true??

Yes if the light is to close.
Keep it up about 2 to 3 feet until they are taking feed.

lol nice..will those go good with fox farm ocean forest?? and how often do you like to feed your plants? every other watering i heard but you a pro so whatever you think is what i'll stick with! lol thanks again for all the advice!!! im goin to do a grow log for my first grow when i get everything together

Yes sir, FloraNova works well with just about everything. The majority of the succesful growers on here use it and love it, myself included. I started out with another line, I bought the FN just to chck it out and see what all the fuss was about.. The results, compared to what I was using, blew me away, I don't see myself using anything else for a long time.

wow thats amazing!!! well i know what i will be getting to feed my plants!! lol how often does everyone like to feed there plants? every other watering...every watering??? and thanks again i really love the advice/support from you guys i love shroomery/growery you guys make this place great from ppl like me starting out!!!

Depends on the strain dude. I use compost tea with bat guano and kelp meal every watering but with those chemical nutes you will likely only have to feed every other watering.

Yeah, with soil you're probably only gonna feed every other watering. And just so you know, Ocean Forest is rich stuff, you may not need to feed them for 2-3 weeks. Just watch the plants, when they start losing that rich green color and yellow a little, they're getting hungry.

so im planing on useing FloraNova but since im useing ff ocean forest i probly should wait about 2 weeks to feed them and when my plants start to turn yellow that just means they want to be feed? just a little recap for me lol

Pretty much, really your best off not to let them get to the point of yellowing, just when you notice color lightening. Honestly the best thing is wait a little while and go ahead and start them out on a light dose and you could keep it down to feeding every second or even third watering(Gonna be dependant on container size as to frequency) but you could keep that up a couple weeks then step them up a little at a time.Just wanna make sure they don't burn, if you notice any kind of yellowing or browning around the edges of the leaves that would indicate nutrient burn. Which means the food is too strong, or they have too much because they can't use it fast enough. At that point you would need to flush with water to dilute the concentration.
I'm really high and I'm gonna go forever if I don't stop here...

i beens seeing 'FLUSH" alot in these forms and that just means you just use regular water to get the food out??? am i on the right path?

Yeah, usually you want to adjust the water to your taget ph level first, take the container size, multiply by 3 and thats how much you wanna use when you flush.

Read this first http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PH. ; I don't want to explain everythang man. Get growing and then ask more questions as they come up. If you wanna research go out and buy a book on cannabis horticulture and read it cover to cover rather than asking us every little question you can think of.

i have a few bagseed going and i was reading something on here about how this guy had lower ph then its suppose to be and hes pic looked just like mine and i was wondering what was wrong thats all just why i asked
