Owned all the albums when I was like 12 years old as they were each released, along with the rest of my preteen nu-metal cds and tape such as korn, deftones and the like.

So you stopped listening to Tool at 15-16? Were you taking heady psychedelics from the time you were 12-16? The funny thing is until I was about 15-16 and started experimenting with mushrooms I didn't like Tool at all, and can even remember on more than one occasion telling people Tool sucks, like I was some fucking expert after hearing a few songs on the radio before. Once again, unless you've experienced Tool while tripping you aren't capable of getting the message, they literally structure their albums to correlate to the psychedelic experience, I simply didn't get it until after my mind was "opened". It was literally like an "OHHHHH... I GET IT!" type of moment really. The only reason I even gave them another chance is because a psychonaut friend of mine who at the time was much more experienced and knowledgeable than I was loved them and I respected him and his intelligence very much and wanted to try and listen again and see if I could understand why he was so crazy about it when I was so "sure" they sucked.

I'm glad you liked them when you were a dorky middle schooler and associate them with that time in your life and that mind frame. At those ages you hardly even had the mental capacity to truly understand and appreciate a band like Tool and probably didn't even have the slightest clue what their music really stood for.

Are there some fans of Tool who have never tripped or even smoked weed? Yes, and typically these are the faggy mall goth kids that I would rather not be affiliated with through my love of the band. Were you even smoking weed by 12-16? Lol..

tool blows, a week ago I found all my old tool cds in a case, then I listened to half of lateralas? anyway I turned it off half way through and listened to a clash album.
I still to this day get stuck in rooms or cars with tool fans and have to hear the same "tool rules" rap, everytime I come close to slapping the shit out of them so I can get out of having this very arugment.

If you gave up on Tool at 14 chances are you weren't even yet at a mental capacity to fully appreciate them. I'm sure you were an expert back then too with plenty of heady trips under your belt. At 14 you're in 9th grade. I don't give a fuck how much shit you took during the rest of HS, you just told me by 14 you realized you don't like them. Radiohead is awful.
