Its a muscle relaxer.
It may give you a feeling of sedation, but its not to help specifically for all forms of pain.

I'm fairly certain tramadol is NOT an SSRI, but similar to other anti-depressants. It actually inhibits the uptake of norepinephrine.

You do not want to mix Tramadol and any SSRI or SNRI (like Effexor), this could result in something called serotonin syndrome, which is some nasty stuff, and potentially lethal.
