Yah, I'm sort of excited too. I'm just dreading dealing with the heat. It was 88 F in my cab until 11 pm last night (about 4 hours of light in high heat). Clones are a little stretched due to laziness and an extreme need for new T5 bulbs. I needed to get a project going though so I could have a harvest before the summer is up to restock for the fall (plus I wanted to be able to give an 1/8 to all the people I chill with during football season).
Anyways, hope it won't be much of a problem and hopefully a pH imbalance won't hurt me like last grow.

I fed last night 4 ml FNG 3 ML FNB and watered them through this time instead of just getting the area around the roots. When I opened the cab up all of the new growth was a very light green. So either they weren't getting enough food, or, possible light bleaching. So I hit them again with some full strength stuff but made sure to soak a little heavier. I seem to remember similar problems with my first LA run, I guess I'll know in a few days either way

Fed tonight 1/2 tsp FNB 1/2 tsp FNG. Decided to cut back a little because the tips on some fans seemed to be burned. I think the light green/yellow color of the new growth is just due to how fast these things are growing lol. They're all greening up nicely and putting on inches fast.
Still Battling temps, current cab temps = 91 right now.

Encouraging that they are going strong at 91f. You supplementing silica?
Can't wait to see some pics of these as they grow. Its the only thing I've been smoking on for the last week straight both of them are really top notch you are going to love it. Fruitier than the LA and IMO finished at least as fast if not faster.

Well last night was the first time I've seen the temps at a constant 90+. Usually it's just a spike in the beginning of the night and it cools down to low to mid 80's. We're just dealing with some seriously warm weather right now and I think my AC is struggling a bit to keep the house cool.
Hopefully it's not much of a problem. The plants are getting plenty of airflow and I'm keeping the lamp a decent distance away to give them some more breathing room. Unfortunately that's the best I'll be able to do unless I can wrangle up a window AC unit.

Day 7
Figured I'd take a couple of quick pics. Not much to see really, but they're growing at a nice clip. Temps have been better past few days since the weather cooled down. Unfortunately I might be dealing with this a bunch if we have a lot of warm nights.

Lost power for almost an hr on thursday, shouldn't be much of an issue but I was sweating it pretty hard when they flicked off. I'm noticing a marked difference between the two moms. The mom I liked from the beginning is giving me the node spacing and branching I want. The other mom is a bit lankier, looks more sativaish, and not as many branching sites as the other clones.

Plants are looking good, seems like every time I feed them they put on a few more inches lol. Amazing how quickly cannabis can grow sometimes. The buds are all starting to develop nicely, leaves are all a nice healthy shady of green, and no problems to report. Pretty much smooth sailing so far, next week I'll be removing the FNG from the feeding schedule, adding in some kool bloom dry, and increasing the dosage of FNB to at least a tsp if not 8 mls.
I'll try and get another couple of quick photos up tonight when the lights flip on.

Nah, I've been pretty lazy photo wise because it was pretty boring. I'll be taking more photos now that the buds are starting to develop.

No problem. I'm unsure as to whether or not I'm overfeeding them. 2-3 large fans on the middle plant in the first pic are yellowing, the plants in the last set of pics are a little yellow too. I doubt it's underfeeding because I'm hitting them hard. I took mag's feeding schedule and slightly modified it because I felt it was too strong. At this point I'm wondering if even my dosages are too strong for my plants. It's quite possible I've caused a lockout, so to be sure the next watering (thur night) will be plain with a tbsp of clearex. I might give them an additional plain watering, or at least a watering with a light dose of food (1/4 tsp FNG 1/4 tsp Kool Bloom, touch of Kool Bloom dry).
I'm still trying to figure this one out, my LA's exhibited the same problems but I thought it was due to a pH imbalance. Seeing as I'm checking the calibration of my pH pen fairly often I can scratch that one off the list. Next grow I think I'm going to lighten the feeding schedule even more and see if the same problems show up. I also think a PM to CrustyOldBastard is in order to see if his KB's and LA's showed the same problems.
Anyways, that's about it, I've been happy with their growth so far. They got a bit taller then I'd like and unless I SCROG or SOG it I think 4 plants is really the limit of my cabinet. I'd looooove to do these plants in a SCROG as the branching is awesome, and like Crusty had pointed out, seems this strain is definitely geared towards a SCROG (with the LA's being a better SOG strain). Oh, yah, this weekend I'll be picking up a little more perlite and popping the OG 18 x Skunk #1 seeds this weekend. Planning on using them for my fall run. After this grow completes I'll take a two week break from flowering while the buds dry, so right around the beginning of September I plan on flowering the OG's. This way I can get a nice Christmas Chronic harvest in, dried, and cured before the holidays and take a nice month long break from growing. Sometimes you don't realize how much of a job it is until you start flowering plants lol.

I had the same problem with nutrients on previous grows. I just lowered the ppms and added a little extra cal/mag 2-0-0 to my mix and my girls stay real healthy and green. I dont know if its my strains or what, but anything above 750ppm and my girls start to burn. I have been changing my res's almost daily on this run, keep in mind my res is only 5 gal. I start with a fresh batch of nutrients at 750ppm/5.8ph. I let the girls dig in until my ppms drop to 500 or below and change the res. This process usually takes about 24hours and the ph will climb as high as 6.6(high for hydro)and then I change the res and start over. Also, if my ph starts to drop instead of raise, I change the res right away no matter what the ppms are at. This has been working very well for me. And you might think its wasting nutrients, but to get to my desired ppms i put a 1.5gal formula in a 5gal bucket. I dont know if you can check all of these readings in hempy(unfamiliar with it) but if you can, you might want to for sure drop the ppms and maybe get a little more N in there.

I can only test the solution, since hempy is a water to waste system there really is no res. The little res which does exist is inaccessible and that water is usually absorbed pretty quickly. I don't even think it's possible to test the pH of the medium considering it's perlite and insoluble in water.
I really think it's overfeeding, I'll break out the pH pen and start measuring, but last I remember my current dosages of nutes put me in the 1400 range which is really high. When I get my next grow going I'll try to keep it sub 1000 and see if that helps, I'm really tired of my fans burning out before I even hit the 1/2 way point of flowering. All that lost energy, it sucks.

They are looking great. Its been a long time since I checked this journal and the growth didn't disappoint.
Agree with both of you about keeping ppms in the 800-1000 range. I haven't exceeded 1000 for several grows now and try to keep it around 750-850 for the most part. Before I might have bumped up to 1300 and then flushed, but now I'll go 1000 followed by 500 or something similar.
Can't wait to see these and the OG #18 x Skunk later on sounds like it will be a good summer for ya.
