Based off the original poem by Langston Hughes, http://www.mrcoward.com/slcusd/englishb.html For an English class, We had to write our own version, in a sort of fill in the blank way.
Let me know what you think.
The instructor said, Go home and write A page tonight And let that page Come out of you Then, it will be true I wonder if it’s that simple? I am all, none, born into and one with the universe. I went to everywhere, then no where, then here to this moment in time and space. I am the only me who exists, I am exactly the same as you. I move about the Gaia as a destructing and constructing organism with a false belief on who and what I am. I think of something to write, but do I write it down? It’s not easy to know what is true for you or for me at twenty billion, my age. But I guess I am what I feel and see and hear, is-ness, I hear you: Hear you-- we two-- you, me, talk on this page. (I hear the bad voices too.) Me-- who? Well I like to breathe, think, live and die. I like to learn, feel, laugh and love. I like to try to be in the present, and music-- The Dead, the Beatles, The Who. I guess being who I am without knowing who I am makes me like you, like the universe. So will my self be one with my not self and you when I die? Being me, it will be odd not being me. But I will be part of you. You are not-- Yet a part of me as I am part of you. That’s not American. Perhaps a word is just a word, a thought provoking sound. Nor do I often recognize, if I am my name, I am just a sound. But we are all just one energy, trying to convince ourselves of our individuality, that’s true! As I learn from you, I learn from myself, I guess you learn from me and for me-- Although you’re not me-- and I not you-- And we are one disguised as me as you. This is my paper for English B.
-------------------- Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
