maybe the plant has some kind of natural instinct to produce super dank buds when the world ends and there is no more light.:crazy2:

I heard an older friend of mine that says in the last week (while hes flushing) he fucks with the plant hardcore. Changes its schedule all up, bends it around all funky, etc. All kinds of stuff that would normally cause it to hermie, if it wasn't going to be chopped soon.

Since the plant is freaking out it causes it to try even harder to survive, so its helpful or something.

I dunno...his methods are very dated.

Oh I know they do. I subscribed around 5 or 6 years ago and only received one magazine and a dvd. Never subscribed to it again. I just thought the idea of someone calling a local book store like "Yo, do you have any international cannagraphic" And the store attendent being like "You mean national geographic? "

I'm willing to bet not. I've seen that circulating the interwebs for years now.

If it IS his, WOAH. Found the creator of a pretty popular picture!

A long time ago I heard it was good to give it a couple days in the dark to make it more resinous.

I can't remember the reasoning. I think it was something about the plant produces most of its resin at night (not sure if this is true or not).

I just researched it last night because today is actually my harvest day! Woot!

I wanted to do a 14 day flush for better flavor but actually gave it more of a 16 day flush.

I really learned alot watching the plant react to the flush. Having my ppm meter really let me tune into plant nutrients.

Seeing what ppm makes the plants react in certain ways.

Whoops, got side tracked. I initiated my flush a 5 days early on accident.

So combine the extra 2 and the 5 days from being early I have to harvest a week earlier than intended.

I also heard to not water a few days before harvest so If I watered them today they wouldn't need watered for another 4 days so so that's just too long I think for the plant to go without nutes and I'm not going longer.

So this harvest I pretty much did all 3 of the fabled harvest tricks.

I unplugged the light last night because I didn't think the plants could take another day without water.

So darkness before a harvest.

No water a few days before harvest (I think to make drying faster).

Extra long flush.

We'll see how the weed is effected.

I've also been taking a tester nug every day for the last 10 days or so and I definitely can tell the harshness before.

I feel from the tester nugs 7 days is sufficient to get rid of all the harsh taste. 14 makes your plant consume all its stored energy turning all the leaves yellow.

[edit] Oh yah I also read darkness before harvest to cause the plant to eat its storage faster cause no light producing more.

I don't know if I believe it or not.

I haven't tried it as I have always grown outdoors and this is my first time indoors. But knowing a little about plants, and knowing they need photosynthesis to use food I would think that cutting OFF their light would STOP photosynthesis which would STOP them from using up the food.

Both of these make a difference.  And yes you are right it just speeds up the drying process which could be a good or bad thing depending on your specific scenario, like drying environment, density of the buds, humidity etc...
