OK so i know how great pot is for a medicine but will it work on pets, for example i have a chocolate lab he is around 3 1/2 feet to the shoulder so you can imagine the size. hes 11 years old and as in many larger sized dogs his back legs are getting very bad arthritis, i know for a fact that pot is good for arthritis in people but will it work for my dog, i have hot boxed my shed at least 20 times with him there and he ate a joint on me once (not sure if the eating of the joint did anything or not but the hot box seemed to) when i did get him high he seemed to run and play like he did when he was 6 does this work or am i just naive.

Technically no, dogs dont have the cannabinoid (sp?) receptors in their brain
but hell, that dosent ever stop my dog from acting silly when I get her stoned

do you have a source for that?
i would highly suspect that dogs have very similar cannabinoid receptors. we are both mammals after all.

dogs definitely have cannabinoid receptors. Check out Lictman et al., Sept 1998. Eur J Pharmacology. They show that chronic iv infusion of THC produces sedation, ataxia and loss of muscle tone. These effects can be blocked by giving the dogs a CB receptor antagonist, which shows that dogs have the receptors.
Whether or not cannabis will provide any relief for arthritis in dogs seems to be unknown.

My rabbits definitely show all the telltale signs of getting stoned. They will actually come toward you if you hold but in front of them! LOL
those lagomorphic dopefiends!
Who knows, maybe you can use this info for your dog!

im 99% sure dogs have cannabaloid receptors because one of my friends dogs ate a bunch of weed brownies or cookies and passed out for at least a day.

have you seen a 3 year old stoned? they do the same thing. shaking could have been signs of anxiety in him also. give your dogs treats w/ small amounts of canna, remind yourself they are 8lbs - 120 lbs to your 130 - 300lbs (fat ass) so they wouldnt need as much you would figure, their stomachs are also hypersensitive (ever change the dog food from good brand to crappy brand because you are broke one month? ahhhh dog shit...) and my shephard is uber-sensitive; i know when he eats off the table because he has the shits
and because stuff off the table was missing
like my subway sandiwch
asshole.

I laughed so hard reading this because my 3 year old shepherd cross will east shit if you leave it on a table or counter and leave the room for more then a few minutes. Food is his weakness... poor guy was abused as a pup.
