Those are some sexy bitches. My plants always look a lot better after I throw them outdoors. It won't be too late when you notice the males, it becomes pretty obvious. And then you kill them. What kind of LST do you plan to do? I'm trying this new technique outdoors using bamboo skewers to do some LST. I cut the ends so I can wedge the stems in, sort of like a splint, and it props the stems apart to open up the plant to more sun. It works good, but anything could work.

i honestly have no clue. hahaha mostly i just want to move them away from each other a foot or two, but i cant do that because they were all planted in the same pot, so i was just going to LST them farther apart so they will all get more sun and (if my logic is correct) minimize stress and stretching by preventing them from fighting for sunlight....
if that makes sense. haha

You could do some High stress training, where you bend/break the stem a little and you could do that to each plant and bend them away from each other. That might be a good idea since they're not flowering yet, but you have to be very careful not to break it too much. Practice on some other plant first I guess. You'll get far more buds that way. Your plants remind me of my friends' that I was taking care of. My mom killed them all though. They were some tall and lanky looking sativas.

yeah, at first they look like they are screaming for more light, but the leaves are huge, and the stem is sturdy. they're just gonna be tall i guess
idk about breaking the stem....seems waaaaaay too sketchy. more room for error.

It's not that hard and cannabis is a hardy plant! Supercropping is an example of HST. It's where you pinch a piece of your main stem until it "pops" and causes the stem to hang at a right angle. Then the plant repairs the break and goes on producing new growth like nothing happened, in fact the area where you "broke" the stem will now be stronger then it was before
I wouldn't worry to much about it, but if you want to practice on something choose a lower branch you wouldn't mind losing and pinch that to get a feel for it, but like I said it'd be pretty hard to kill your plant using any type of training method.

Just popping in to say that I was trying to LST one of my girls on my first attempt at growing - I broke her with that "pinching" method. I almost cried haha. I tied her to the side of my cabinet, and within a week it was grown back. And there was a "knot" where it had broken!
I still feel bad LSTing, so I don't blame you for being nervous. Just my 2 cents and a little personal experience for ya

If you need a HPS light you save for it. Look mtimes are tight and I'm working towards building a grow box. I had to stop so I could work for the money needed to build the box. Slow down and wait. There isn't any reason why you have to rush thru the process,

There is no need to pinch them. Bend them away from each other and put a steak in the ground to tie them to. To be honest I can't see myself ever using the "pinching" method outdoors unless I knew a strain would produce exceptionally fat colas only if I did this. LST will do the same thing with no recovery time, less stress, and give the plants more light.

True, but sometimes HST is more convenient and is a lot easier to create a "shape" for the plant.

i dont particularly care about whats easier, or whatever...i just wanted to try some sort of training and i chose to top it. i have been banking on eventually having to cut at least one of the two due to being a male...so i figured why go through with all the trouble of tying them down and all that crap if im gonna have to cut one...or both, cause they havent showed sex yet.

Why are you so dead set against topping? Even though outdoor plants do great without training, doesn't mean he won't benefit from it. Is one main cola better than two or something?

I never said that he shouldn't train them. He should. Take a look at how close those plants are. He is going to have to tie them down away from each other eventually anyway. I also think that for a beginner lst is easier than pinching. But now that I think about it he probably should have waited to train them until they showed sex b/c training delays this and he will want to pull the males asap so that the females root systems are less inhibited.

well, i changed my mind. i tied the one i topped at the base, and near the top with fishing line, and bent her(i hope) over to give both plants some more room to grow, and for sunlight, pics later
