Thats just for optimum results. You can totally get away with one or the other, but its suggested for a reason, ya know?
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

I'd say the red, because you want your plant to really shine during the flowering, right? I mean...pretty leafs look nice, but the buds are what you're really after, yes?
I dunno. Thats just my train of thought.

my m8 reckons the blue are for veg only and the red for flower, he has both. the reason being is that they both give out a slightly differnt spectrum of light? hes done 2 grows with them and they both turned out ok. he also mentioned if u get them get the 8u as the 3-4 u dont have that many lumen's. i also read somewhere you must have the red spectrum in the veg stage aswell . you can buy the led boards off ebay pretty cheap, they have blue,blue/red and red ,if you read the description it should tell u more there .
