Yellow tips...

Hi I'm just going to post some quick pics and somewhat fill out the worksheet till I have time to complete it. I have been meaning to upload these for some time now and I keep forgetting.
Anyway, I'm still new and I was told this is not normal.
The yellow on the tips, I thought was it was just new growth. I'm being told it's lacking something... ?
Skunk #1/Northern Lights. about 2 months old. Hydro /Drip to res. 1000w HPS (possibly old bulb) Tap water Ph 8.0 res ph 5.5 - 6.0 (yellow liquid on meter) Ionic Grow Ionic Boost -Add back filling ppm - 1300 ? just guessing, friend has the meter. got hot at one point, but now moderate climate. (keeping the door open)
Will work to get more questions answred.

Doyou know the temps of your reservoir. It looks like your burning them to me. 1300 ppm is pretty high for mid vegetative.
You have more going on than just the new growth being yellow. It's small and distorted and the leaf fringes of your older fan leaves are curling up. I'm thinking your plants are probably nute locked at this point.
You should change out the res. and flush with a product like clearex, for a couple of days and then change out again with a lower nutrient strength.
Also getting a digital pH meter would be a good idea.

I just got a 50 gal ebb and flow (ebba nd flood) system.
I am putting it together now, and I will transfer them from my drip head table over to this new flood system with buckets.
Here I will follow the directions of what to add to the reservoir. what it my target PPM?
Having this larger res that is stationary, I plan on buying a 3 in 1 digital stationary electronic unit. (Temp, PPM, and PH)
do you think I should still try and flush them before switching?
ps.) I have seen more dead growth at the base of the plant than normal.

Flush them once you move them into the Ebb and Flow. That will be more efficient than doing with the drip system.
After the flush I would start out at about 700-800 ppm and see how they do.
Putting an air stone into the reservoir would be a REALLY good idea.
I would also add Liquid Karma to the mix that you are using. And once you go into flowering Sweet would be a beneficial addition. If you have the money, sounds like you do, adding something like Sub-Culture will be VERY beneficial to your system. Not only does it help your plants take up nutrients, but it helps fight off harmful bacteria and algae.
It's very natural that the lower growth starts dieing off as your plants get bigger and light decreases to those parts of the plants. It also could be related to the lock out as well though, and your plants are drawing nutrients from the lower foliage to try and feed the new growth.
Are you in flowering stages?? I was researching Ionic Boost and it's only for the later stages of flowering. Are you feeding this right now??

Sounds great and I appreciate the advice!
I am only in the Veg stage right now. I am taking the advice of an Old Hand here in my location. This is half of the reason coming here. I can't stray too far from his direction, since everything was given to me.
There currently is an air stone in the reservoir.
I will get everything flushed at a priority. Does the clearex neutralize the Ph?
My tap water is a Ph of 8 and that's where we ran into some big issues with his commercial grow. (I will provide pictures soon)
so if I fill 50 gal. I think it's gonna take a lot of solution to balance the Ph to 5.5-6.5
Thoughts? I've never used it, and we recently got a hydro shop in town. It's like a candy store every time I walk in there.
You guys Rock

hey I believe hawk nailed this 1 with the plants being over ferted and nute lock. WhenI first saw the pics it reminded me of an Iron deficiency but the ph is not hight enough that. So looks like u've got all the advice u need to get u on track.
Also clearex is acidic so dont just add it without adjusting the ph. u wont have a problem getting that 8.0 tap water down to 4.0 or lower once added, then u can bring it back to around 6. I'd also advise to stop using tap water and go with distilled.

that's a lot of water to be using distilled? Only place i've seen it is the grocery store in 1 gal jugs. Is there a better place I can find it?
Like those big water spouts for farmers?

Hooked up my Ebb and Grow unit, filled up about 37 gal in the res. i am flushing now with clearex solution>
I set the schedule to 30 min on 1 hr. off for 24hrs.
I had to adjust the Ph from about 8.0 to 5.5 with 30 ml of ph down solution.
*** You don't want to know what the ppm is of the res i took them from *** my stick unit only goes up to 25000 ppm, it was on the very last light.
I am measuring the ppm of my new res in the 12 site unit. it's about 420 ppm. which will be drained tonight. ph during flush has raised slightly, but not by much.
Keeping you all up to date. Thanks!!

It's a magnesium deficiency, that's what got locked up. They gave you the correct way to fix it just for a further notice if you ever see the leaves fold up like that, they're praying for Magnesium just remember htat.
