I wanna know what kind of "melatonin" you've been taking in that case.
The same 5mg "extra strength" capsules that the OP takes
I usually take 2 of them
Ambien sucks.
I took 9-12mg doses and it did jack shit.

I swear to god it was just three days blended together. Have you ever gone to sleep sober and dreamt of being high on something, even if you've never done it before? (for me: shrooms all the time, coke once, and when I was a little kid I'd have slo-mo recurring dreams where I was drunk.)
i huffed mescaline in a dream once hahaha. Mescaline vapor. It was before I even know what mescaline was, I just knew it was a drug.

Severe insomnia is a fucking curse I've had since I could remember. Mary Jane's the only thing I've encountered that helps with sleep without any negative repercussions.

This shit still continues to give me crazy dreams with an incredible depth and bizarreness to them. Also I've found that if you take some melatonin and stay up for an hour or two then smoke a bunch and go to lay down, if you throw an ipod on you are in a pretty trippy head space for as long as you can manage to stay awake. I'm used to doing that anyway weather I'm just blazed or if I've been up all night tripping and am ready to try and settle in for the night. It definitely adds a little something compared to just being mad blazed.

I use melatonin every once in a while to help with sleep, or to get my sleep back in order...
Everyone is going to react differently, but generally speaking, you really don't need to take that much melatonin for it to be effective. Even one 3mg pill is more than needed for most people. Large doses can be counter productive, too much melatonin may spill over onto the wrong zone of the melatonin phase-response curve.
I normally only take .5mg-2mg, and it's just as effective as if i took 3mg-6mg. Anything more than that and i will wake up randomly through out the night.
But yes, Melatonin does most definitely turn up my dreams a notch in intensity, lucidity, and vividness....

'Precautions:
Because of the potential for side effects and interactions with medications, people should take dietary supplements only under the supervision of a knowledgeable health care provider.
Some people may have vivid dreams or nightmares when they take melatonin. Taking too much melatonin may disrupt circadian rhythms (your “body clock”).
Melatonin can cause drowsiness if taken during the day. If you are drowsy the morning after taking melatonin, try taking a lower dose.
Additional side effects include stomach cramps, dizziness, headache, irritability, decreased libido, breast enlargement in men (called gynecomastia), and decreased sperm count.
Pregnant or nursing women should not take melatonin because it could interfere with fertility.
Some studies show that melatonin supplements worsened symptoms of depression.'

I normally take one 5mg "super strength" soft gel and the most I've ever taken was 15mg and I've taken 10mg a couple of times. I definitely wouldn't recommend going over 5mg if you need to be up in a set amount of hours for something important but higher doses, IME, don't have any real noticable side affects.

Cool. I might have to try that real soon. I love trippy dreams!
The one big thing that gives me naturally-intense dreams is a new, completely different thing that happened in my day-to-day life that surprised me, or made me happy. Anything out of the ordinary...then at night, I usually have the wonderful dream that I have sex with my hot cousins (they are sisters). I'm so lucky to have such gorgeous cousins....couldn't have those amazing dreams without them!
And before that, I used to eat Morning Glory (Ipomea tricolor) seeds at like 100 at a time, then a week or so later, I would have the strangest, but pleasant and very vivid "drug-like" dream trips. Not sure if it was the Morning Glories, but I'm pretty sure it was, since the dreams always felt similar, like a psychedelic trip. Could of been a psyde-effect of the seed toxins...who knows.
So, Melatoin has a similiar effect huh? Hmm....the only downside is that I can't swallow large pills. Small pills are OK, but big horse ones, I always gag and spit it out.
Any brand you recommend? ~ TrueH. ~

Wow I seriously had like 10 seperate dreams last night. I had two CRAZY dreams about outter space shit, one where the planet jupiter gets blown away out of the galaxy or something and another where I was on earth and some sonic explosion took place and it was just like watching an atomic bomb go off it was fuckkkked. It was like some kind of end of the world Apocalypse scenario but I remember not being scared of it for some reason. I was just standing their accepting it, I remember it was so vivid I could even FEEL the wind pressure from the explosion like it was launching me in the air.
Another dream I was running around some strange looking supermarket stealing a bunch of items and running outside with it and a couple people I knew were with me there stealing too. I also dreampt that I was at my old bus stop from like 4th-6th grade and all of a sudden I was just like "oh hey check this out" and started flying around in the sky.
There were more dreams I can't remember and more details to those ones I wish I could remember. Anyone ever get triggered by something in the course of their day and they start remembering shit that happened in a dream that night?
