 Looking for a new LCD monitor

I am going to start building my own computer here in a couple months, my laptop battery has been dead for a couple of months and its getting pretty annoying
Are there any brands you guys would recommend? Does it really matter?
I have checked out newegg and they seem to have some pretty decent prices on some generic brands

Damn that's a pretty sweet deal. I am thinking of pulling the trigger and ordering it
I really didnt want to spend quite that much, but that is a nice size monitor and I really dig Samsung products

I cant buy it today. I got to pay rent tomorrow and I dont want to leave myself too strapped for cash. Want to go stock up on groceries and take care of all my other bills for the month
I will have to keep that site in mind though. That was an awesome deal

I'm almost thinking I should just buy like a 32'' TV with an HDMI imput and hook my computer up to that...

It'll work. Its great for multimedia, especially if you have surround sound speakers.
Not unless you have a great video card it'll look kind of crappy.

plus I dont know how difficult it will be to find an LCD monitor that has a cable input
It'd be pretty dope to be able to hook up my cable box to it

that' out of my expertise. to my knowledge, a lcd monitor would know have a cable in.

And a TV as a main monitor isnt always the best idea, I have a 37" 1080p LCD thats pretty cool to use as a monitor but too big to be practical for 24/7 use unless I want to move my keyboard and mouse back an extra 5 feet

Oh and check this one, samsung makes badass LCDs and this one is like 99% screen 1% plastic which looks cool IMO

I got my monitor for 200 it is awesome. That was when I had expendable income.
