How big can a clone be?

I transplanted my Swiss cheese mom into a 5 gallon bucket of 80% coir 10% perlite and 10% verm. Well she just exploded in new growth. I topped her 4 times when she was little and now I have a damn bush, and not the size I expected. This little girl has either had some sort of genetic advantage over her sisters, or the bucket was the key. But my question. I have taken and grown several clones from her, but How big around would you guys say is to thick for a clone? None of the branches have that woody feel or look. I didnt know if I could take a really good size clone from her ( say 6 inches tall ) and after that roots go ahead and flower out the old mom. The new mom I will bonsai, Just wanted to see if a good size clone would be possible??

Yah, you can take a 6 inch clone, the bigger they are the harder they can be to root. However, it is possible and definitely not unheard of. Magash has a few pics of him taking some pretty big clones no problem.
Just make sure to trim the fan leaves down and that you provide them with more then enough moisture. Otherwise they'll fade pretty quickly.

I think an aero/aqua cloner would work best for taking larger than normal cuttings. But I suppose it's a bit obvious that larger cuttings will require the extra water that an aero cloner will supply. When I use good ole fashioned root tone and soil it seems to be the smaller the better...ime

80% coir 10% perlite and 10% verm
110% wowzers, that's an interesting percentage.

I think 80 plus 10 plus 10 equals 100....at least thats what they taught me in 2nd grade.

I think what he meant by that was usually you would put a higher percentage of perlite in it.

well actually I would find that rather interesting. Most rooting compounds use Indole -3- Butyric acid. Now of course, Salicylic acid is not a rooting hormone, but it could be interesting to try. I would suspect that it's properties as an immuno-regulator might help the clones stay healthier and therefore root faster.

No matter how big or how small if it's part of a pot plant I'll get roots out of it.

Fuckin' Owned.
I'm getting better at cloning. I find the moisture level in the medium is a fine line to walk between no roots and getting root rot. I have gotten up to about 80% survival rate going straight to soil... Can't complain with that, especially regarding the quality of the cuttings that I took. 4 weeks into flower, lol.
