Show starts in about 30 minutes. Danny will be on in an hour. The chat room is open now. I'll try to keep an eye on this post. If anyone has any questions for Danny I'll try to get them asked for his "Cultivation Corner" piece.

As always on NORML SHOW LIVE today's broadcast was informative and inspiring. Here's a quick rundown of some of the questions asked in the "Cultivation Corner" with Danny Danko: (you can tune in to the replay here after the show has been posted, later today.)
1. Strain Choice: When looking for potency, DDanko says it's not all about the percent THC. He spoke of smoking some strains in Amsterdam that had been tested as 25% THC and noted that they weren't any more "potent" in effect, than other strains of only 10-12% THC. He advises that as a grower one should select for not only those plants with high THC values but also for the other cannabinoids that have effect in ways not fully understood yet.
2. For the budget grower, looking to maximize yields and overall quality without breaking the bank on top-shelf nutrients, DDanko suggests creating your own organic tea blend. He says that ideally, every grower should have a compost tea brewer as a source of light fertilizer with LOTS of microorganisms that will help your garden kick ass.
3. For those supplementing their gardens with CO2 via tank and regulator, DDanko recommends at least 1000ppm in order to see real effect from your efforts and also warns not to go beyond the 2000ppm mark. He says that CO2 should always fall down onto plants from above with air circulation keeping it from settling too long on the floor. As the discussion got more technical, he also suggested synchronizing the timing on the grow room exhaust fan with the CO2 regulator so as not to exhaust CO2-rich air from the space. He ended the CO2 bit by advising that most people tend to get too concerned with CO2 supplementation and goes on to say that in a small space, if you have good air exchange then you're doing nearly as good as with added carbon dioxide, which is actually wasted without optimally maximized lighting conditions.
4. When asked how long he'd been growing and if he was ever one of those kids that got kicked out of their house for growing marijuana he told of a story of being kicked out, or asked to leave rather, by his mother because she didn't want him growing in her house. He had been growing a plant in his window sill; experimenting, he said. Danny then added that he has been growing for about 20 years now.
5. To answer the question, "Other than lowrider, are there any other autoflowering strains out there that are worth the time?", DDanko informs chatters that there are now feminized autoflowering plants on the market where you basically just plant it and walk away. He also said that many autoflowers still have that strong ruderalis, hemp-like quality in their genes that doesn't produce the greatest stone but, with breeding programs constantly going, there are now some decent crosses out there like DieselRider that those interested in autoflowering varieties may wish to look into.
6. He briefly touched on compost sterilization, which merely involves leaving a heap of organic material in the sun for some time. As it sits, temperatures within the center of the heap reach 160, 170, 180 degrees, effectively pasteurizing the pile. However, if not left long enough the compost will be too "hot(nutrient-rich)" and the nutrients may burn your plants.
7. When asked when to flush, DD says two weeks minimum prior to harvest date. He recommends plain water or lightly amended with a sweetener such as molasses.
8. He finishes by stating that he is not currently growing because he resides in a state that forbid it, however he is keeping up with the scene by speaking with other growers and keeping in touch with the community. He's also looking forward to getting back into growing again soon.
That wasn't all that was covered but, all I was able to take notes for. Danny went live eleven minutes after 4:20 in my time zone... seriously
