see that's what I'm talking about. In my opinion people need to stop lying about LED's and giving their "equivalent wattage."
I just crack up when someone has a 15W LED panel and they say it's equivalent to a 400W HPS, because it's just fucking not. Now, that being said, 400W of LED will outproduce the shit out of 400W of HPS, but think about how many panels that would be, and at that point you're not even saving energy on heat either. 400W of LED's is going to be just as hot as an HPS if not more so.
How many watts was she running in those pictures? I can count 8 panels it looks like, I'm guessing at around 90W each? maybe even more?
So in that case, decent yield, but 1000W of LED's for that harvest? I'd rather go with HPS

But then I started to do my research and more importantly, maths.
To buy the LEDs to sum up to a respectable lumen level, we're talking thousands upon thousands of LEDs. Despite running relatively cool and being supremely energy efficient in comparison to other types of globes, I realised that fuck it would cost a whole bunch on the initial set up and I'll be damned if I'm going to solder thousands of them together in rows upon rows come to think of it!
Think I'll shelf this project until I can find bulk super bright LEDs for just a few cents a piece. Nowadays they are upwards of a buck each. I just don't have that kind of cash on an experimental project.
Fuck that shit!
What were you planning on using? 1/10W diodes? In order to make it even slightly worth your time I would suggest nothing less than 1W diodes, but if you can track down some 5W'ers and still handle the heat output then you'll be rollin' fat
