I see no use for this device in my life. It would be nice to watch videos and read on while traveling though. Use this thread to talk shit on the ipad or hype it up or talk about technology or anything else related. Is anyone going to get one?

i guess i would like to buy one that someone messes up but where i could still fix it
and run linux on it
id use it to control lights, my grow room, tvs all that shizzlebamnizzle
but i wouldnt pay full price
plus i could build one for much cheaper
or buy like a touchscreen and run linux on like an arduino or something similar

the first generation of any crazy new technology is always super lame. the second and third gen is when they really start cranking out the awesomeness

Well we all find it impractical right now, but I've noticed over the years that people actually find uses for the useless so it will be interesting to see where the Ipad becomes a practical piece of technology in our ever faster evolving world.

I got to play with one on Friday before they were released for retail sale. It's a pretty interesting device for someone looking for a netbook replacement. It's also going to kill kindle and nook in terms of e-reader market share (if i was gonna drop cash on an e-book reader, i'd buy the ipad over the others). Honestly though, I wouldn't drop 500 bucks on this. At least not now, I'm waiting til they come out with the second gen's. Let them get the bugs out now, upgrade the hardware, add some more features, and then maybe I can justify the 500 dollar price tag. Until then I have my iPod touch.

OSX is what it needs. then it would be a real revolutionary device. The kindle is a complete pos. didn't we have that technology like 15 years ago?

Yeah, Im sure they are gonna come out with one soon enough that runs OSX and has a DVD-RW Drive and USB Ports to make it a fully funtional computer, and that would be pretty badass, but would probably be pretty pricey

Technically it does run Mac OS - kinda. It pretty much uses iPhone OS which is based on OSX from what I understand. 
The ipad is kinda silly though. I'd rather put my $ towards an entry level Macbook.
